Lifetime Care for Rescued Animals
The Hudson Valley Humane Society announced today its sanctuary role. The Hudson Valley Humane Society & Sanctuary more clearly expresses what the organization has provided for decades: a safe, compassionate haven where animals in need receive care, rehabilitation, and, when necessary, a permanent home. Many of the HVHS’s permanent residents originated from animal cruelty cases. Others require long-term care due to barriers to adoption; those barriers may include behavioral challenges resulting from prior cruelty or neglect, special medical needs, or the substantial cost of care. As our community becomes more densely developed, larger companion animals, and certain breeds, can face ever-increasing challenges finding appropriate homes.
HVHS provides sanctuary care for all types of animals including farm animals, reptiles, birds, cats, dogs of all sizes, rabbits, small mammals and more. “Every animal deserves a life free from suffering, and it is one of the goals of the HVHS to protect and serve with the highest standard of care at our headquarters” stated AnnMarie Gaudio, President & Humane Law Enforcement Commissioner. She continued, “our sanctuary aspect underscores that these animals are safe and welcome at the HVHS with no time limit.”
