It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ervad Pervez Patel, ZAGNY’s esteemed head priest, beloved husband of Katie, cherished father of Avan, and devoted father-in-law to Nevil, who peacefully returned to his Creator on Monday, July 21, 2025 (Roj Khorshed, Mah Aspandard) at 8:25 PM.

Pervez lived a life defined by compassion, service, and integrity. A quiet force of wisdom and dignity, his presence uplifted all who knew him. His kindness, sincerity, and deep sense of responsibility left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and the wider community.

A devoted spiritual guide and a pillar of ZAGNY and the tri-state Zoroastrian community, Pervez served with distinction for over five decades—mentoring generations and championing causes close to his heart. Whether through formal service or humble acts of generosity, he embodied the Zoroastrian ideal that true honor lies in giving.

He performed the very first Jashan at ZAGNY and looked forward to every opportunity to gather with his lifelong friends at community events. Always ready to serve, he offered his priestly guidance with compassion—whether in times of joy or sorrow.

Even in recent years as he faced health challenges, Pervez remained a model of grace and courage, inspiring those around him with his unwavering faith and gentle strength. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, integrity, and selfless service that his family and community will strive to uphold.

Parsi New Year Celebrations in 2023.

This photograph shall be printed and included in the Time Capsule that shall be buried at the Dar-E-Mehr on September 16th, 2023.

We are pretty sure, that the printed photo will be around and in good shape 50 years from now when the time capsule is opened. We have our doubts that Facebook will be around 50 years from now :-)
