Café con Libros Press

Café con Libros Press A nonprofit bookstore and community space that nurtures cultural expression in all its forms.
(1)

Twenty years ago, with youthful and unfettered optimism two Latinas opened up a Cafe con Libros Bookstore in downtown Pomona. A close friend had asked, “If you could open a business what would it be?” Both women were in the beginning years of their careers as educators and knew exactly, despite no previous entrepreneurial experience, that opening a bookstore would be the dream. The focus of th

e bookstore reflected their experiences as women of color, as first generation college grads, and as immigrant advocates. It became a bookstore that featured books reflecting the multicultural community Southern California. This was the dream, this was the service they wanted to bring to their community: a bookstore which celebrated the stories and traditions of people of color. Although the bookstore closed after several years, the mission of these educators remains the same. Presently, the ladies are more experienced and have gained the wisdom that only the trials of life can bring. These dreamers, Adi and Pati, plus a core group of supporters are bringing Cafe con Libros Press back to Pomona. The new CCL will be a non-profit organization determined to provide a space that creates community, that nurtures creativity, and literacy in all its forms.

We’re looking for volunteers!

Café con Libros Press is more than a bookstore—we’re a community space built around a shared love of books, art, creativity, and connection. We believe in the importance of creating safe and welcoming third spaces where people can gather, discover new ideas, make art, share stories, and simply feel at home.

We’re looking for volunteers who share that passion for community and the arts and want to help us continue cultivating a space where everyone feels welcome. Whether you’re a lifelong book lover, an artist, a creative, or simply someone who believes in the power of community, we’d love to hear from you.
