A great day for Rockland County Fire Explorer Post 44!

Thank you to the Stony Point Fire Department for hosting our car wash today and for your continued support of our program. We also want to thank everyone who stopped by, donated, and supported our Explorers.

A special thank you to Stony Point Ambulance Corps for bringing their ambulances to be washed, Sloatsburg Fire Department for bringing their chief’s car, and Stony Point Fire Department for also bringing their chief cars through.

Our Explorers worked hard, represented the program well, and had a great opportunity to serve the community while building teamwork and responsibility.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make today a success!

Congratulations to Post 44 member Sophia DiPisa on being sworn in as the newest firefighter of Wayne Hose Company #1, Stony Point Fire Department.

Coming from a fire service family and growing up around the firehouse, Sophia has now taken the next step in her journey. Through her time with Rockland County Fire Explorer Post 44, she has continued to develop the skills, knowledge, and dedication that have helped prepare her for this moment.

It has been an honor to watch her grow from a member of the fire service family into a member of the Post 44 family, and now into a firefighter serving her community.

On behalf of all of us at Rockland County Fire Explorer Post 44, congratulations, Firefighter Sophia DiPisa. We are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to seeing all that you achieve in this next chapter of your fire service career. Stay safe, serve with pride, and never forget the difference you can make in someone's life when they need help the most.

Remembering Kenneth "Kenny" J. Bermudez

Yesterday marks one year since we lost our beloved member and friend, Kenny Bermudez. On February 23, 2025, our Post family and community were forever changed.

Kenny was more than just a member of Rockland County Fire Explorer Post 44 — he was a shining example of dedication, kindness, and passion for the fire service. His enthusiasm, laughter, and drive to help others left a mark on all of us that will never fade.

As we reflect on this past year, we honor Kenny’s legacy by continuing to train, serve, and support one another — just as he always did. Though he may no longer be here with us, his spirit lives on in every drill, every community event, and every life we touch.

Rest easy, Kenny. You are deeply missed and will never be forgotten.
