Hope Esperanza was honored to be selected as part of Cohort 11 with the Los Angeles County Justice, Care and Opportunities Department.
Out of more than 250 organizations that applied, only 25 grassroots organizations were selected—and Hope Esperanza was one of them. 💚
That alone meant everything to us.
But what we gained during these 12 weeks changed us in ways we never expected.
We didn’t just learn we grew.
We reflected.
We were challenged.
We became stronger.
Hope Esperanza is not the same organization that started this journey. We now move forward with deeper purpose, clearer structure, and stronger strategies
Being surrounded by 25 incredible grassroots leaders There was so much wisdom, resilience, and love in every room we entered.
This experience reminded us that we are not alone in this work.
Now we move forward with full hearts, ready to pour everything we learned back into our community. Ready to build. Ready to grow. Ready to continue showing up for our people.

✨ A Story of Hope That Started in 2020 ✨

Six years ago, in April 2020 when the world felt uncertain, we built something small a Hope Esperanza Little Free Library.

What began as a simple act of hope slowly grew into something bigger.
Children stopped by after school. Families exchanged stories. Books traveled from hand to hand carrying imagination, comfort, and possibility.

That moment shaped who we are today.
From that little free library… to feeding hundreds of families each week this is what Hope Esperanza is about: showing up for our community in every way we can.

Before the food distributions… before the programs… there was this library.
A reminder that access to knowledge is just as powerful as access to food. That nurturing minds is just as important as nourishing bodies.

🌍💚 Earth Week is here… and the future is showing up.

Tomorrow, 60 incredible kids will step forward—not just to plant trees, but to plant hope 🌱
They are becoming the next generation of environmental leaders, restoring our city one tree at a time.

Together, we’re helping bring 100 new trees to Los Angeles, in areas impacted by recent fires—spaces that deserve healing, life, and renewal.

At Hope Esperanza, we believe caring for our community also means caring for our planet.
Every month, we rescue over 40,000 pounds of food, keeping it out of landfills and putting it into the hands of families who need it most.

💚 This Earth Week, we didn’t want to celebrate alone.
We’re honored to stand alongside our partners and these amazing young changemakers.

Every week, we rescue thousands of pounds of food that would otherwise end up in landfills—and instead, we place it directly into the hands of our neighbors. 🥕🍞

Because at Hope Esperanza, we believe in something simple but powerful:
We feed our neighbors, not the landfills.

This work is about more than food.
It’s about sustainability.
It’s about dignity.
It’s about protecting our planet while caring for our community. 🌱

Today’s food distribution was powered by pure love, commitment, and community. Even under heavy rain, our incredible volunteers showed up with passion in their hearts, because serving our community isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are.

At Hope Esperanza, we continue rescuing food before it reaches landfills, turning what could be waste into nourishment for our neighbors. In a time when the economy and inflation are deeply impacting our seniors and families, this work matters more than ever.

This Women’s History Month, at Hope Esperanza, we celebrate the incredible women who show up for our community with heart, strength, and purpose 💚

Today, we want to give a special shoutout to Mona and Tina — two amazing women who embody what it truly means to serve. Their dedication goes beyond volunteering… they are planting seeds of compassion for future generations 🌱

By bringing their grandchildren to serve alongside them, they are teaching that community care, kindness, and dignity matter. This is how legacies are built. This is how hope grows.
