50 Seniors from CMIT South High School traveled to LiUNA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. to learn about LiUNA, and gain information from LIUNA Training about career opportunities through apprenticeship, training and the world of construction.
When they arrived few knew about the Laborers trade or the variety of career pathways in construction. Many were surprised at not only the Union wages and benefits, but also how LiUNA is aligned with issues important to them.
LIUNA Training staff shared how a career as a union Laborer offers an alternative path to traditional college while still providing the opportunity to earn college credits, and return to post secondary education to further their careers. Executive Director John LeConche summed up the day this way “if these seniors are any indication of the young women and men coming out of high school, well our future is in great hands!”
