Pomeroy, Ohio, has been a cornerstone of community support and veteran advocacy for nearly eight decades. Established circa 1947, this local chapter is part of the national American Legion Auxiliary, which was founded in 1919 to support The American Legion and honor the sacrifices of those who serve in the U.S. The Auxiliary’s mission is rooted in the values of patriotism, service, and citizenship. Members actively engage in programs that benefit veterans, active-duty military, and their families, including organizing Memorial Day services, placing wreaths in honor of fallen soldiers, and collaborating with local schools and civic groups to promote Americanism and youth mentorship. Located at 41765 Pomeroy Pike, the Pomeroy Auxiliary continues to uphold its motto of “Service Not Sel,,” fostering a spirit of volunteerism and remembrance throughout Meigs County and beyond.
