Pomeroy-Middleport Lions Club

We are a non-profit service org. We meet 1st and 3rd Wed at Noon at the Blakeslee Center in Midd.

We are sponsoring a FREE presentation of "Helen Keller" TOMORROW at the Mulberry Community Center in Pomeroy. The program starts at 12:30 PM and is open to the public. Please see the flyer for more information.

The Pomeroy-Middleport Lions Club installed a new weathervane on the gazebo located at the Pomeroy riverfront. This was our "fall into service" project for 2024.

Meigs County's bicentennial celebration is in progress. They will be burying a time capsule tomorrow The Pomeroy-Middleport Lions Club is submitting this photo along with some current Lions Club brochures to be included in the capsule. From L to R standing is Bill Klein, Kenny Utt, Bruce Teaford and Jeff Warner. Sitting on the bench is Brenda Barnhart and Kenny Klein. Please note the bench: it is 1 of 34 donated by our Lions Club to the people of Meigs County.

About the Pomeroy-Middleport Lions Club

The Pomeroy-Middleport Lions Club was chartered in 1949 to serve the Meigs County, Ohio community. We are affiliated with Lions Clubs International, which was founded in 1917 by Melvin Jones in Chicago to unite businessmen in serving their community. Our motto is: “We Serve!” Local Projects: The Pomeroy-Middleport Lions Club has actively supported many projects at a local level. These have included: • Providing funding for purchase of eyeglasses for Meigs County residents that are unable to afford them • Recycling of used eyeglasses through Lions Club International • Providing benches at various locations • We funded the construction of the roof over the stage at the Pomeroy levee • We had many of the light posts in Pomeroy wired for electricity for Christmas lights • We had the old train depot at Dave Diles park re-wired • We support a Boy Scout troop by hiring them to put over 60 flags at businesses in Pomeroy and Middleport on 8 holidays • We support local events such as the Middleport Fire Works and the Pomeroy Sternwheel Regatta •

We sponsor several events to raise funds for our community service and eyeglass assistance projects: We have a Bob Evans Sausage fair booth beside the grandstand at the Meigs County Fair • We have a flag service on 8 holidays per year • We sponsor a magic show at the Meigs Elementary School (more information on this year’s show will be posted) •
