We had such a great time at ! 🌈📚

A little rain tried to join the party, but honestly? Free books, community, and a few raindrops just made it feel extra Oregon. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, grabbed a book, and celebrated Pride with us! ❤️💛

Recent event spotlight: In April we had the opportunity to join Middle Grove Head Start’s Community Resource Fair. We provided 44 books to their kiddos!

On Saturday, we took our bus out to Falls City for the Happy Dance, and our hearts are so full. We gave out 50 free books and got to see firsthand the joy this little bus is already bringing to our community.

We have officially completed the construction phase of the bus and are now working through the final steps to fully finish it like the wrap and lighting. But since it is functional, safe, and ready enough to serve, we just couldn’t wait any longer to get it on the road.

And honestly? We love it. So much.

This bus represents so much more than shelves and books. It represents access, connection, imagination, and the simple joy of a person finding a book they get to keep. Every stop reminds us why this work matters.

As we move into this next phase, we do have a few wishlist needs to help us finish and equip the bus for future pop-ups, storytimes, and community events. If you’d like to support The Reading Nest as we continue spreading joy one book at a time, you can view our wishlist here:

Thank you for cheering us on, donating books, showing up, sharing our posts, and believing in this dream. We are so excited for everything that is ahead. 💛

The bus is rolling, and we’re just getting started.

The moment our team has been waiting for 🥹

On May 5th, 2025 The Reading Nest was created with one goal in mind: launch a bookmobile that would provide free books to all, specifically targeting rural communities. Our executive director and founder was raised in Falls City. She loved her library and spent most of her days there. Then she had to watch it close. She wanted to bring all the childhood joy she experienced at her library, back to her community.
One year later, we have officially soft launched our bookmobile- and we did it in Falls City 💙 Our story is only beginning!

Thank you to all our amazing community supporters who helped bring this dream to life.
We still have more to do before we can give you the full tour. Butttttt we couldn’t resist this glimpse of joy!

Two weeks ago we had the opportunity to join for their El día de los niños/El día de los libros event. WOU students, from the TRIO Teacher Prep program, led small reading groups of kiddos from Western’s Child Development Center. Students and staff were then invited to participate in a free book fair put on by us! Thanks to the support of the Polk County Cultural Coalition, the library was able to help us provide over 40 brand new bilingual books to the students!
Thank you for including us in such a wonderful event!
