Montana FWP, Region 1 is really leaning into the "Bear Aware" thing, hosting "bear aware office hours" on every Tuesday in September, from 3-5pm, beginning September 8.

From the press release...
September is Bear Aware Month, and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks staff will host open “bear aware office hours,” on set days in September in Kalispell. Stop by any time during these office hours at the Kalispell FWP office for bear safety tips and to practice with inert bear spray.

Tuesday, September 15 (3-5 p.m.)
Tuesday, September 22 (3-5 p.m.)
Tuesday, September 29 (3-5 p.m.)

FWP bear education technician, Anna Martin, will be available to discuss bear safety practices, how to handle bear encounters, and how to avoid attracting bears to your property. Participants will also have a chance to practice using inert bear spray on request.

Thanks to everyone for joining our Annual Meeting! It was a fun night of North Fork comradery culminating with Dan Fagre's presentation on his research and documentation of the glaciers in our beloved Glacier National Park. We also honored Matt Kennedy and Amy Secrest with our the 2026 Glacier Park Stewardship Awards and presented the Loren Kreck – Edwin Fields Wilderness Scholarship to graduate student Davis Paul.

Congratulations , Davis Paul on receiving the Loren Kreck – Edwin Fields Wilderness Scholarship. “Both Loren and Edwin dedicated their lives to protecting the natural resources of Northwest Montana,” said NFPA Secretary Suzanne Hildner. “We are honored to manage this scholarship, which directly supports students using their education to champion the same biodiversity and wild landscapes these men fought so hard to protect. Congrats and thanks for all you do Davis!”
