Arts of Point Richmond

Arts of Point Richmond Encouraging and aiding artists to share their work with fellow artists and the community since 2008. The Artist. The Viewer.

ORGANIZATION:
The Arts of Point Richmond (AOPR) was founded in 2008 by Point Richmond resident Altha Humphrey after she realized how many artists existed in this town. Her original idea was to increase creativity among this treasure trove of creative people and to encourage more connection among artists and the community. Altha’s vision is well stated in the slogan she coined: “Art is for everyo

ne. The Point is ART.”
The organization had the good fortune to further blossom under the leadership of Linda Calvan Drake, who, sadly, passed away in 2013. Since the fall of 2013, a loose coalition of members agreed to serve on an ad-hoc leadership committee to envision the future of AOPR with feedback from current and former members. This team, now called the Executive Leadership Team convened a series of full membership meetings designed to better understand local artists’ and community’s vision for the Arts of Point Richmond and requested volunteers offer to chair or serve on a number of committees. The Leadership Team serves as the “umbrella” coordinating committee in an oversight capacity
This page will be a bridge between AOPR and the community of artists and arts supporters
