National Parks are failing nature and Point Reyes is no exception. In the past few years, tourism grew drastically, and human abundance has a major impact on wildlife. Moreover, in Point Reyes, the park services decided to cull tule elk in favour of farming.
It seems as if National Parks are more focused on making money instead of protecting the rare species that can sometimes only be found on their grounds. Point Reyes National Park is known for its conservation symbol: the Tule Elk, a species endemic to California, a beautiful animal that has been living here for many years.
If we don’t put a stop to their outrageous decision, the National Park will become just another farm land, where rare animal species will be eliminated, endangered plants will die eaten by cows and water will be severely polluted by manure dumping.

You can find coyotes in Point Reyes National Park roaming free in the fields. Although they look similar to wolves, coyotes are smaller and attack their pray from the front.
Another interesting difference between coyotes and wolves is that coyotes are strictly monogamous. Once they mate, the male will help the female hunting during the pregnancy and will attend to the pups (grooming and defending them) as long as the female is alive.
One litter is usually made of 6 to 8 pups. The pups fight between each other during their first five weeks of life to establish an hierarchy and depend on their parents for at least two months after birth.

Point Reyes is home to thousands of species of animals: tule elk, raptors, gray whales, elephant seals and over 45% of North American species of birds. Amongst all these animals, 50 species are listed as rare, threatened or endangered

Point Reyes is the only place in the world where humans can find Sonoma spineflower, a very rare species of flowering plant. 18% of California’s plant species are found here, 6 of them being threatened or endangered.

Biodiversity is at its peak in here and removing any species from here can have massive consequences on all the other and destroy their natural balance. A balance that has been evolving for years and exists in perfect harmony.

In a first world country, in a national park created to protect wildlife ranches and money have become more important than conserving a unique species of elk that is endemic to California. A species of elk that annually brings over 2 million tourists to Point Reyes National Seashore. When we protect our wildlife there is more to gain. Help us show the National Park Service that killing the elk is a mistake. Sign the petition in our websiyesend a letter to your representatives letting them know you oppose and

“We inhabit a world that is characterised by biodiversity”
But what is biodiversity and why does it matter to humanity? Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth. It is represented on multiple diversity levels – from genetic make-up, species of plants and animals, to entire ecosystems such as coral reefs. As of today, 1.7 million species of animals, plants and fungi have been observed and it is estimated that the total number could likely be up to 100 million. How incredible!
The biodiversity as we know it today on Earth was shaped through evolution over millions of years. The intricate interactions at play between organisms are vital not only to each species taking part to the diverse ecosystems around the world, but to humans as well. The air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat depend on it, sometimes in ways we would not even think of. Not only is the biodiversity found on Earth magnificent, it ensures greater sustainability and resilience for all, especially in times of catastrophic events.
Today, biodiversity is in decline due to human activity around the world. It is estimated that the current extinction rate is 1,000 times higher than before humans dominated the planet. Some scientist even speak of the Earth’s sixth mass extinction, which is where 75% of species are lost over a period of 2 million years. Whilst these alarming warnings must be taken with caution, we cannot ignore the urgency to take more action.
Biodiversity is what makes this planet unique. But it is also what keeps it alive, along with billions of people.

Join us in saving the . Saving this animal will not only impact the future of an entire species, but the future of wildlife in general. If humans think is it ok to eliminate one species for money, what will stop them in the future to eliminate all species?
Mother Earth created all of us to coexist together. That means that this land is not only mine or yours, this land belongs to all the animals that were here long before us. We were put here to admire them, not to disturb them. We must protect them, not kill them.
The Tule Elk is a conservation symbol for California. Killing them would mean killing their heritage, their history and wiping a success conservation stories that should be taken as an example
It is crucial that we and

Point Reyes is ranked in the top 10 worst water in the US due to millions of pounds of manure being dumped in the water, causing e.coli contamination.

The national park is planning to kill the native tule elk in favour of growing cattle and expanding more ranches on the seashore.

We must raise awareness and make the national park do its job: protect ecosystems and prioritise wildlife.
