Members of the Point Pleasant First Aid & Emergency Squad participated in a drill with Ocean Fire Company and Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company #2 Thursday evening. Our members learned how the make entry into a vehicle (who’s doors can not be opened), the extrication capability of the fire department, reviewed and learned new ways to get patients out of a vehicle when trapped, and our younger officers got an opportunity to expand their leadership skills. It was also an opportunity for the firemen to hone their skills on the extrication equipment. This was a fantastic opportunity for our members and they are looking forward to doing the drill again, although in a little cooler weather. Many of our members have a new found respect for the firemen who wear turnout gear on every call no matter the temperature. Our members learned why it’s so important for us to have rehab set up for the firemen, we need to keep them cool, hydrated, and ensure their health while working on the scene of a fire call.

Rest in peace Chief. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and EMS family.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Neptune Township EMS Chief Bil Rosen collapsed and died in the line of duty this morning. He was 59. This is a major loss for all of us, and we’re still processing the shock. Bil was a friend, a family member, and held multiple significant roles throughout EMS in New Jersey. Bil touched countless lives through his work at Neptune EMS, the New Jersey EMS Task Force, Neptune OEM, as well as through his cooking, his teaching, and his family.

Bil was passionate about mental health and wellness and established a robust peer support system within Neptune Township EMS that has come to grow into something bigger than imagined. The hope for him was to create a program that nurtured and destigmatized the judgment around mental health in public safety. In addition to his role as EMS Chief for Neptune Township, he also held the positions of Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for Neptune OEM, Training Module Manager for the NJ EMS Task Force and Deputy EMS Coordinator for Monmouth County, and was a long time dedicated member of Shark River Hills First Aid. He was a lifelong educator of public safety professionals, and instructed thousands of students both nationally and internationally.

He had a strong love of food, and, most of all, his family. You could feel the joy he had for watching his son Bash begin his journey in EMS. Most recently, they could be found standing together side by side at the FIFA world cup. In addition to that, he could be found at the sidelines of Bash’s soccer games cheering him on with pride. Notoriously known for his famous kayak and hunting trips with his close friends; he had a love for getting outdoors and always loved to share his tales with coworkers and friends alike.

We’ll share more details about services as soon as we have them. For now, please keep Bil’s wife Kristin, his son Sebastian, his loving family, and everyone whose lives he touched along the way in your thoughts. His dad jokes will be deeply missed, and the joy he brought to all of us will never be forgotten. The legacy he has left behind will be carried on for generations by all the lives that Bil touched.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Stop & Shop of Point Pleasant
The Point Pleasant First Aid & Emergency Squad would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Scott and the entire management and store team at Stop & Shop of Point Pleasant for their extremely generous donation of a full pallet of bottled water.
This donation means far more to our organization than many people may realize. As a fully volunteer emergency service organization, our members respond to medical emergencies, water rescues, mutual-aid requests, community events, training exercises, environmental cleanups and extended emergency operations throughout the year.
During the hot summer months, keeping our members properly hydrated is not simply a convenience—it is essential to their health and safety. Our EMTs, drivers, divers and support members may spend hours working outdoors, carrying equipment, operating in protective gear or assisting residents during difficult and physically demanding situations.
This generous donation will help stock our ambulances, emergency vehicles and station, while also supporting training drills, community details and prolonged emergency responses. It will also allow us to provide water to other first responders, volunteers and members of the public during larger incidents when additional support is needed.
Recent operations have included removing large amounts of debris from Silver Lake, assisting neighboring communities during severe flooding and continuing to provide emergency coverage throughout the busy summer season. These operations can require hours of strenuous work, often in high temperatures and while wearing wetsuits, protective clothing or other specialized equipment. Having bottled water readily available makes a genuine difference.
As a fully volunteer organization, community support allows us to continue serving. Donations such as this help us stretch our limited resources further and keep more of our funding available for medical supplies, rescue equipment, training, vehicle maintenance and the specialized gear needed to respond safely and effectively.
Stop & Shop has served neighborhood communities for more than 100 years, and this donation is another wonderful example of a local business stepping forward to support the people who serve its community.
To Scott and the entire team at Stop & Shop, thank you for welcoming our members, helping us load the water and showing such genuine support for our organization. Your generosity and kindness are deeply appreciated by every member of the Point Pleasant First Aid & Emergency Squad.
