The Point Lookout Civic Association would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Councilman Chris Schneider, Chief Lifeguard Mike Romano, and the lifeguard staff for your support and assistance in making the Summer Safe Beaches event such a success.

The TOH lifeguards are to be commended for their professionalism, dedication, and exceptional work throughout the program. The class was thoughtfully organized and expertly conducted, providing an excellent balance of water safety education, lifesaving instruction, and engaging activities for the children of Point Lookout. Their ability to educate while creating a fun and safe environment made the event both meaningful and memorable.

Please extend our gratitude to your entire lifeguard staff for their commitment to our community. Their efforts are truly appreciated, and we look forward to working together again in the future.

This event wouldn't have been possible without the vision and tireless efforts of our neighbor and board member, Tim Dawe—thank you, Tim!

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, the best way to reach us is via email at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!

Mourning the loss of
Anita Eileen Burns
June 1, 1945 ~ June 30, 2026

It is with deep sadness that the family of Anita Eileen Burns announces her passing on June 30, 2026, on Long Island, NY at the age of 81. We take comfort in believing that her passing was swift and largely free of suffering. As per her wishes, Anita's donated her organs to save others' lives. She left this world surrounded by her family bearing witness to this heroic gift. It is a testament not only to her excellent health but her selfless and generous spirit which was a hallmark of her long life. Anita's last days were spent in perfect health, enjoying time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Anita Del Bello was born on June 01,1945 in New York City to Eleanor and Bernard Del Bello, joining a large and vibrant Italian-American family. She was delivered by her paternal grandfather, Dr. August Rossano. She attended Elizabeth Seton College, and was married in 1969 to Mr. Arthur Burns, a law student at Fordham University. They lived in Greenwich Village. She was a talented designer and seamstress, often making her own creations and matching outfits for her 2 little girls, whom she spirited around Washington Square Park in the baby carriage.

When Anita discovered Transcendental Meditation, she spent several years delving into its study and practice, eventually becoming a TM teacher. She was committed to a spiritual lifestyle, devoting herself to helping family and friends, and spread an optimistic, positive belief in the beneficence of life to all she encountered.

Later, she chose to pursue higher education in Computer Programming, honing her skills working as a consultant. At the pinnacle of her career, Anita served as the Vice President of Applications at Viacom/MTV Networks in Manhattan.

As a retired Grandma with 4 grandsons, Anita led a vibrant and very active life, dividing her time between her daughters in Connecticut and Miami. Always up for an adventure, our "Glam-ma" could be found snow-shoeing in the Swedish Arctic, haggling in the Bazaars in Istanbul, swimming off a boat in the Italian Riviera, or climbing up the Palace Forts of India.
But her home in Pt. Lookout was her sanctuary. A proud third-generation resident of the town, she was deeply devoted to her community and cherished the many close friendships she formed there. Always the consummate hostess, she could improvise a delicious meal at the drop of a hat for the many visitors who dropped in on her warm and always welcoming home by the beach. Her love and care were always apparent in the beautiful tablescapes she would create, adorned with fresh flowers from her garden and family heirlooms.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Kristin Burns Reynolds and Meredith Burns, and their husbands, John Reynolds and Trivikraman Thampy; her adored grandchildren, Charlie and Oliver Reynolds, and Anand and Leonardo Thampy; her siblings, Barney Del Bello Jr., Gina Shea, and Larry Del Bello; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Anita will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, extraordinary hospitality and the she touched the lives of everyone she knew.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to an organization close to Anita's heart World Central Kitchen in Anita's memory at http://wck.org/

The family welcomes you to honor and remember Anita.

A Memorial Mass in honor of Anita Burns will be held on Friday , July 17th at noon.

Dear Neighbors,

On behalf of the Point Lookout Civic Association, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Hempstead Town Supervisor John Ferretti and Councilman Chris Schneider for their continued partnership and commitment to our community.

We are grateful for the completion of the road work improvements along Mineola Avenue and the addition of a new flashing stop sign at the intersection of Hewlett Avenue and Bayside Drive.

Both projects were driven by community feedback and represent meaningful investments in the safety, accessibility, and quality of life of our residents.

A special thank you goes to our neighbors living along Mineola Avenue for their patience and for working closely with the Town throughout this project.

Improvements like these help keep Point Lookout safe, beautiful, and connected. We appreciate the Town's responsiveness to local concerns and look forward to continuing to work together on future community initiatives.

Neil Charles Grogan died peacefully on March 27,2026 surrounded by family members. Neil was born on October 27,1958 to Margaret and John Grogan.

He attended Holy Family Grammer School and Mayflower public school before graduating from Karafin High School in Mt. Kisco. After graduating, he worked as a porter at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City for 20+ years.

Neil was an avid sports fan who rooted for the Seatle Seahawks, Los Angeles Dodgers and Norte Dame but his true passion was love of children. He was extremely involved in Holy Family CYO basketball, often running the scoreboard for many coaches. Little league Baseball in New Rochelle and Point Lookout always brought a smile to his face. He was the uncle to 16 nieces and nephews, great-uncle to 10 nieces and nephews. and godfather to Sean, John, and Katie. He was often referred to as “Coach” by many of his friends and was

“Uncle Neil” to all. He had an oversized personality that often left a lasting impression on people. He will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Neil’s name to New Rochelle Little League, Point Lookout Little League or Holy Family CYO Basketball.

All of us at the Civic Association send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Grogan family and all those who knew Neil.

A funeral mass will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10:30am at The Church of the Holy Family in New Rochelle. 83 Clove Rd, New Rochelle, NY 10801
