Brief Description of EduAct and the Tutoring Program

EduAct is a local, grassroots organization that has served the schools on the Mendonoma Coast
since 2017. Our mission is to support teaching and learning by engaging volunteers from our community
to help meet critical needs identified by the teachers and administrators in our local schools. EduAct is a
โ€œteacher-drivenโ€ model: teachers and administrators tell us their needs for volunteers, including
tutoring, enrichment activities, and special programs, and we work to match volunteers to meet those
needs. This year, as in past years, the greatest need is for tutors, which is known to be among the most
impactful of strategies intended to help students get back on track academically. At the time of this
writing, we have a waitlist of children waiting for a tutor referred to us by their teachers. The demand
faor tutors far exceeds the supply, driving us to ramp up our efforts to recruit volunteers in recent
months.
