Dear Friend of Point Arena Community Chest,

Thank you for your continued support of Point Arena Community Chest (PACC). Because of donors like you, 2025 was another meaningful year of supporting local programs and bringing our community together.

We are now starting our fourth year of operating the Community Center at St. Paul’s. The space has been home to Thanksgiving potlucks, weekly meditation groups, Mother's Day teas, choir concerts and student presentations, art and dance classes, health education workshops, celebrations, and memorials. We also provide classroom space for South Coast Daycare’s full-time childcare program—the only licensed daycare serving Point Arena families. And this past summer, PACC supported the Point Arena Fireworks Committee in raising funds for the annual Independence Weekend celebration.

While we are committed to continuing this work, we face an urgent challenge: PACC does not own the St. Paul’s property. The United Methodist Conference, which assumed ownership in the late 1980s, plans to sell the property at fair market value in spring 2026. Without community action, this vital gathering place could be lost to private ownership.

PACC is in the process of launching a formal fundraising campaign to raise the down payment needed to purchase the property. Community support will be essential to secure the initial funding.

You can help today.

Reminder!
Have you called to save your place at our Thanksgiving dinner?

Thanksgiving Potluck at St. Paul’s Community Center

Point Arena Community Chest will host its annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner at 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, at the Community Center at Saint Paul's. Turkey, ham, punch, coffee, tea, and cups will be provided for all guests.

Attendees are asked to bring their own place settings and to take their potluck dishes home for washing. St. Paul’s kitchen is not a commercial facility, and dish washing presents a challenge for the volunteer staff, many of whom are seniors.

All community members are invited to attend, and all ages are welcome. To RSVP, call 707-882-2303.

Community Works to Keep St. Paul’s Locally Owned
St. Paul’s has served as a community gathering place in Point Arena for many years. The property is currently owned by the United Methodist Church, which plans to place it on the market. Lease payments are presently covered by income from the on-site day care center and rental of the parsonage.

The Point Arena Community Chest Board is working to raise funds to purchase the property so that St. Paul’s can remain a community-owned facility. Donations toward the down-payment fund are appreciated, as is participation in upcoming fundraising activities designed to help secure a mortgage.

“St. Paul’s has long been a place where our community comes together,” said Community Chest Board member Mimi Dallas. “We hope to preserve it as a shared space for future generations.”
