Project Linus of Lower Delmarva We provide security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise

FirstProvide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
SecondProvide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

Quilts are finally done! I worked with 3rd graders from Phillip Showell Elementary School in Selbyville last spring. Now that the quilts are finished, they are back at the school so students will have an opportunity to see their artwork in finished form.

36 quilts and other blankets were prepped for delivery to children. 30 blankets went to a local hospital this week; 30 more will go out the next few days, and a few more are in bags ready for a volunteer to take them to Virginia facilities. Would anyone like to make a handful of these to see if our NICU would enjoy giving them to preemies? The idea is that mom and or dad, would keep one in a pocket or shirt, then leave it in the isolette after visiting., so the baby can smell the parent when parents have to go home.

Barb is busy sewing labels. Gail scanned every blanket. Audrey's husband made our PVC frame. We spend a lot of time preparing blankets for distribution, handling donated fabric and yarn, and several of us deliver blankets to facilities in 7 counties on Delmarva! I love my volunteers!

We had a small but mighty crew yesterday! Every blanket is tagged, bagged or shelved, and every blanket was checked for pins! Plus, a truckload load of fabric and supplies was unloaded and stored. A days work in 3 hours! I'm doing the happy dance! Thanks ladies!

It was a pleasure to meet Linda Tarnowski yesterday. Linda is the chapter coordinator for the Northern DE Chapter. We met at a woman's house in Dover DE to get a huge donation of fabric and supplies for our chapters. We filled 3 vehicles! There is plenty more for the Mid Shore Chapter as well! Thanks also to Linda W. Who helped, Linda T's husband Mel and especially to Paul E who found Project Linus! We and our Delmarva volunteers will make hundreds of blankets for local children.
