In today’s Gospel, Christ teaches us that hearing the Word is only the beginning; the seed must descend into the heart, take root, endure, and bear fruit. On this Sunday of the Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council, we remember those who defended the holy icons because they understood what was truly at stake: the reality of the Incarnation. In Jesus Christ, the invisible God truly became visible, entering our material world and taking on human flesh for our salvation. The Fathers protected this truth not merely with words, but with deeply rooted faith, courage, and sacrifice.

Just as an icon makes visible the reality of Christ, the seed of the Gospel planted within us must become visible through the life we live. If the Word has truly taken root in our hearts, then Christ should be seen in our compassion, our forgiveness, our courage, and our love. As we leave the Divine Liturgy today, let us not simply venerate the image of Christ while failing to reveal His likeness in our own lives. Take the Word you received today, protect it through prayer, nourish it through repentance, and become a living icon of Christ for everyone you encounter this week. 🌿☦️

Yesterday, the Church celebrated the Feast of St. Thomas, the disciple who is often remembered for his doubt. Yet Thomas teaches us something powerful: Christ is not afraid of our questions, struggles, or fears.

On this Mountaintop Wednesday, we are reminded that faith is not about pretending everything is fine. St. Sophrony encourages us to bring our whole hearts before God, including the parts that are confused, wounded, or uncertain. Thomas did not hide his doubts, and because of his honesty, he encountered the risen Christ in a deeply personal way. The same Lord who met Thomas stands ready to meet us in our own struggles today.

The path up the mountain begins with authenticity, not perfection. When we stop trying to impress God and instead pour out our hearts to Him, we discover His peace, His presence, and His love waiting for us. As you continue your climb this week, remember that Christ welcomes honest hearts, and He can transform even our doubts into a deeper faith.

Yesterday, we heard Christ’s challenging words: “Just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”

Now that it’s Monday, the real work begins. The Gospel doesn’t stay behind in the church; it follows us into our homes, workplaces, schools, and everyday relationships. Jesus calls us to something greater than simply loving those who love us. He invites us to show mercy, kindness, and compassion even when it’s difficult. That kind of love doesn’t come naturally. It comes from a heart that is learning to look more like Christ.

As we begin a new week, let us choose forgiveness over resentment, generosity over selfishness, and mercy over judgment. May yesterday’s Gospel become today’s way of life, so that everyone we encounter experiences a little more of God’s love through us.
