On July 29, 2025, a strange circular halo appeared over Bergen, Norway, hovering about 900 meters above the ground. Pilot Erik Solheim recorded it at 18:23, showing dozens of rotating lights around its edge and a vertical energy beam rising from its center. The Nordic Institute of Astronomy confirmed it was neither natural nor man-made, and its origin remains unknown.

The event briefly stunned observers and sparked questions about forces in the sky that science can’t yet explain.

For those of you in or near Desolation Wilderness, my old stomping grounds. I hope he is safe and found soon!

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office needs your help. Our staff are actively working a search and rescue in Desolation Wilderness with Search and Rescue staff. We are currently searching for an overdue subject, Jason Coughran. Jason is described as a white male adult, he is 60 years old, 6'02" in height and 150 pounds. He has brown hair, hazel eyes, and has an athletic build. He was hiking into Desolation Wilderness from Fallen Leaf Lake. He is believed to be wearing khaki shorts, but unknown clothing for certain. He was last heard from at approximately 4:00 pm on May 25th, 2026. If you were hiking in the area, and came across Jason, please contact the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office at: 530-621-6600 or 530-573-3051.

Please know that the weather can be unpredictable in the high elevations. Please plan accordingly when venturing in the wilderness.

Somebody recently pointed out what appears to be a figure walking on the left side of my photo near the 5th New Hampshire Memorial.

The more I looked at it, the more it really seemed to resemble a soldier — possibly wearing a cap and a sack coat. What’s especially interesting is that the upper half appears much clearer, while the lower half seems harder to make out.

Of course, it could simply be another memorial, lighting, shadow, or a trick of perspective… but it definitely caught my attention once it was pointed out.

Gettysburg always seems to leave people with photos and moments that make you stop and look twice.
