We’re seeking an opening speaker with a personal connection to 9/11 to help set the tone for this year’s 9/11 Stair Climb in Pocatello, ID.
Whether you’re a first responder, survivor, veteran, family member, or someone whose life was deeply impacted by that day, we want to hear your story.
Before participants climb 110 flights in honor of the World Trade Center towers, we’ll gather to reflect on sacrifice, resilience, and unity.

Meet Joey!

Joey made over eight visits to Ground Zero.

Being a certified pet therapy dog was Joe’s second career. Transforming from a racer to a pet gave him the opportunity to showcase his best talents. Joe visited rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, colleges, reading programs at libraries, appeared on a TV report, and shined at our pet store Meet & Greets. He was truly a majestic soul and loved people, and was loved by all people who met him, as well.

Meet Roselle!

She was a guide dog stationed with her handler, Michael Hingson, on the 78th floor of Tower One in the World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks. She is credited with saving Hingson’s life by calmly leading him and several others down 1,463 steps to safety moments before the building collapsed. Throughout the descent, Roselle remained poised and unflinching, offering comfort to those she passed by kissing firefighters in the stairwell. Her service stands as a profound testimony to the training provided by Guide Dogs for the Blind and the power of teamwork and trust.

Meet Sky!

The first Search and Rescue Dog to enter the Pentagon on 9/11

“Sky, whose real name was Skyraider, was on the first reconnaissance team to enter the Pentagon on 9/11/01. There was still heavy fire and intense heat, but she went in focused on doing her job. She would search without me having to say a word. She is a small dog, but she has a big heart.”

Little Sirius was an explosive detection dog stationed in Tower II of the World Trade Center and is believed to be the only canine to have passed in the September 11 attacks. His responsibilities, along with his handler David Lim, included inspecting vehicles for explosives that entered the WTC. When Sirius’ remains were recovered in 2002, he was accorded the same honors as the human first responders who lost their lives.
