Protecting Pocatello's Youth

Protecting Pocatello's Youth Protecting Pocatello’s Youth seeks to strengthen and uplift Pocatello’s vulnerable youth through mentoring, awareness, education, and preventative measures.

The program will be structured by assigning one to two mentors (college students) to a group of 8-10 students that have presented delinquent behavior or have been recommended by teachers, counselors, or parents. This group of students will meet together bi-monthly with their mentors to discuss a curriculum topic that teaches them a variety of different life skills, drug awareness and advocacy, lea

dership skill, unity and respect. These sessions will be held during school hours and led by the mentors. Our hopes are to create a big brother or big sister atmosphere in which bonding occurs between the students, trust is built, and previously poor or at-risk behaviors are improved. We believe that by improving the behaviors and building trust, juvenile delinquency in Bannock County will decline.
