🌽🐄 4th Grade Ag Day Success in Pocahontas County! 🚜🌱

Over 75 fourth grade students from Pocahontas County Schools—including Laurens Marathon, Pocahontas Catholic, and Pocahontas Area—recently participated in an exciting and educational 4th Grade Ag Day hosted by ISU Extension and Outreach Pocahontas County in partnership with local agriculture leaders including Pocahontas County Farm Bureau.

Students rotated through hands-on learning stations where they explored:
🐖 Livestock
🌾 Soil health
🌻 Prairie conservation & local wildlife
🚜 Farm safety
💻 Technology in agriculture
🌽 Corn & soybeans
…and so much more!

Through these interactive experiences, students gained a deeper understanding of the vital role agriculture plays in Iowa and in their everyday lives. Events like this help inspire the next generation of ag leaders—thank you for making it a day to remember! 🌟💚

Congratulations to Jack Gerdes, a 2026 graduate of Pocahontas Area High School, for being recognized this spring at the 24th Annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony in Des Moines!

Jack was honored by Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Chris Cournoyer for his outstanding academic achievement—an incredible accomplishment that highlights his dedication and hard work throughout his high school career.

This prestigious event, sponsored in part by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, celebrated the achievements of 429 top high school seniors from across Iowa.

At this year’s Senior Awards Ceremony, we were proud to recognize Delaney Janssen of Gilmore City as one of the 2026 Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) Scholarship recipients!

Delaney was awarded a $2,500, four-year renewable scholarship from IFBF—totaling up to $10,000 in support of her education. 👏
