Calling all young farmers! Join us at Grandpa's Barn during the Clay County Fair on Saturday, September 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a great opportunity to connect, network, and socialize with fellow young farmers from across the region.

🍔 Complimentary Food Voucher Enjoy a free meal voucher redeemable at either the Pork Producers or Cattlemen's Association food stand.

🚂 Historic Train Depot Tours Interested in exploring one of the fairgrounds' unique historical attractions? Sign up for a guided tour of the Historic Train Depot! Tour times: • 11:00 a.m. • 1:30 p.m. • 3:00 p.m.

🌱🚜 Young Ag Entrepreneurs: Could Your Business Win $10,000? 🚜🌱

Do you own an ag-related business and have a passion for innovation? Or do you know a young entrepreneur who's building something unique in Iowa agriculture?
The Iowa Farm Bureau Grow Your Future Award is now accepting applications and offers cash prizes to help young entrepreneurs grow their businesses:
🥇 1st Place: $10,000
🥈 2nd Place: $5,000
🥉 3rd Place: $2,500

Whether you're running a direct-to-consumer meat business, agritourism venture, specialty crop operation, farm stay, agricultural service business, or another creative ag enterprise, this is your opportunity to showcase your hard work and vision for the future.

✅ Eligibility Requirements:
• Ages 18-35
• Own and operate an existing, for-profit ag-related business
• Business must have been started by the applicant and be new to their generation, not inherited or launched with a previous generation
• Be a member in good standing of an Iowa County Farm Bureau (new members are welcome to join and become eligible)

📅 Application Deadline: September 1, 2026
Up to 10 finalists will be selected, with public online voting taking place December 7-13, 2026. The top three finalists will advance to a live pitch competition at the 2027 Young Farmer Conference in Des Moines on January 23, 2027.

🚜 What a great turnout at the Pocahontas County Fair Kiddie Tractor Pull sponsored by Pocahontas County Farm Bureau!

More than 40 youth, ages 4-11, put their strength and determination to the test, along with participants in the Power Puff class. It was wonderful to see so many young people join in the fun and showcase their tractor-pulling skills.

Thank you to all the participants, families, volunteers, and fair supporters who helped make this event a success! 👏☀️🚜

☀️ Pocahontas County Fair Meal ☀️

Despite the extreme heat this weekend, the Pocahontas County Farm Bureau and Pocahontas County Cattlemen were proud to serve our fairgoers at the Pocahontas County Fair. Farm Bureau board members served up watermelon and chips while the Pocahontas County Cattlemen grilled and served burgers.

Together, we served approximately 420 people, and we are grateful for everyone who stopped by for a meal and fellowship.

A special congratulations to all of the Pocahontas County Fair participants. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment throughout the year were on full display. Thank you for helping make the fair a success and for showcasing the future of agriculture in our county.

We hope everyone stayed safe and cool during the hot weekend, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!

🌱🚜 Plan for the Future of Your Farm 🚜🌱

Farm succession planning is one of the most important steps a farm family can take to protect their legacy and prepare the next generation for success.
Iowa Farm Bureau is offering “Real Talk to Real Timelines: A Take Root Immersive Farm Succession Workshop” on August 12-13 at the West 48 Conference Center in West Des Moines.

This two-day, hands-on workshop is designed to help farm families work through the personal, operational, and ownership decisions that are critical for a successful transition. Through guided learning sessions and dedicated family work time with experienced coaches, participants will create a comprehensive Succession Plan Binder and leave with:
✅ A clear vision and family values
✅ Defined roles and governance plans
✅ Mapped land and ownership structures
✅ Transition timelines
✅ Risk management and estate planning checklists
✅ A practical 90-day action plan

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Open to Farm Bureau members only
💲 $150 per Farm Bureau member family (includes up to 6 attendees)
