We now have over 250 ft of ugly, yellow "No Parking" curbs -- and 2 stop signs and 2 yield signs within a stone's throw of each other in our quiet rural subdivision.

Why is Mayor "Wimpy" spending so much money on unwarranted traffic signs? Especially in an area that has never had an accident??

Call and ask. It's your money.

Weeks ago we saw Poca Police car go through the new stop signs. Today we observed a Poca Policeman simply watch as a car drove straight through one of their new stop signs without even slowing down. They were at the intersection at the same time - it couldn't have been missed.

Meanwhile, they are spending our money on unwarranted stop signs they aren't even monitoring and taking away street parking from some residents -- while others (on the same street) are free to park in front of their homes.

A ticket for illegal parking is an astronomical $55!

Call the Town Council and demand common sense and fairness. We don't need unwarranted stop signs or yellow curbs to make us "safe".

Keep in mind, there have never been accidents where the Town Council is planting these unwarranted Stop Signs. Are they trying to fix that?

Has anyone been following the issue with the Town Council and the No-Parking Zones and Stop Signs?

Anyway, the Mayor was informed he needed to order an Engineering Study of the intersections before ordering Stop Signs. I guess he admits that's true,...BUT instead of ordering a study he says an engineering friend of his will look it over when he gets into town.

PLEASE contact the Town Council and tell them having the mayor's friend sign off on what he was going to do anyway is NOT ordering an official Engineering Study!

Just remove the stop signs, strip the paint from the no-parking zones and let us go on with our SAFE lives. We non-engineers who have lived in these subdivisions for DECADES know we haven't needed them to be safe. There has never been an accident at our intersection.

We know they only did this because a friend of somone's wife complained to her that he 'couldn't get out of the subdivision' (this was mentioned in a recent Town Hall meeting).

But in all the years we've lived here, there has never been a time someone couldn't get out of a two opening subdivision.

However, one guy in a big red dually (who probably doesn't even live in our neighborhood) did start down one of the exits where friends of mine were parked tight against the curb. He backed up... cursed out my friends, then proceeded SAFELY out.

I'm sure he's the one who exaggerated his complaint.

BTW! Watch WOWK TV 13 evening news tonight (11/6/15). They are covering our Stop Sign & No-Parking Zone issue with the Town Council.
