Plymouth #49 Royal Arch Masons

Plymouth #49 Royal Arch Masons Plymouth Chapter 49 Royal Arch Masons is a group of Master Masons who are dedicated to promoting brotherly love, relief, and truth within our community.

What is Royal Arch Masonry? Like the three basic degrees of Freemasonry, it is a system of moral and esoteric education rich in symbolism

A Chapter of Royal Arch Masons confers the four Capitular Degrees;

The Mark Master Degree: amplifies the Fellow Craft Degree and teaches of our ancient operative craftsmen and their means of identifying the work of each craftsman. This degree is perhaps the ol

dest Masonic degree, and is one of the most highly respected. The Past Master Degree reminds us of our duty to others as well as ourselves. The Most Excellent Master Degree: is based on the completion and dedication of King Solomon's Temple. The Royal Arch Degree: is the consummation of the Master Mason Degree. It is here that a mason discovers how to collect his wages and most importantly, finds that which was lost - the Master's Word.

The title Companion originates from the Latin com panis, meaning "with bread." Rooted in military history, it originally described "messmates"—soldiers who shared their rations in the barracks and their lives on the battlefield. This relationship represents a level of loyalty and mutual defense that goes beyond standard friendship; it is a bond where lives depend on one another.

In the Royal Arch, this connection is elevated further. Because the Royal Arch brings us into a closer relationship with the Almighty than the Craft alone, the ties between us are similarly strengthened. The term "Brother" is foundational, but "Companion" signifies a completion of that journey and a deeper spiritual intimacy. It is a sacred bond we should carry with immense pride.

Why Join the Royal Arch - For the Master Mason, the journey is intentionally incomplete—a tragic cliff-hanger leaving a symbolic void. The Royal Arch provides the essential second half, offering narrative resolution and recovering the genuine lost Word. It is the keystone that completes the allegorical arch, transforming a moral builder into a true spiritual Master and fulfilling the promise of further light.
