Planting Lettuce, Beets, and Dill today. We cover our beds in the fall with cardboard and leaves. In the Spring we pull off the leaves and cardboard to reveal the beautiful w**d free soil below. The key is waiting until the the day we are ready to plant to pull off the cardboard so w**ds cannot get a foothold before you plant. The topping goes into the compost pile to be used next season.
