Happy Eid-al-Adha/Eid Mubarak 2026 "blessed celebration/feast" to those that celebrate. Remember, a scout is reverent. If you are celebrating it, how are you celebrating this year? Share below!

Remember, You may have scouts in your units that celebrate so feel free to share this to wish the Happy Eid-al-Adha/Eid Mubarak, which is one of the more important holidays to them.

Also, even if you or your scouts don't know much about the holiday, it is good to learn about it so you know more about it.

So I left some links below to help learn a little more as I am learning more as well. A little from the sources:

"It starts today & lasts four days. It means "blessed celebration/feast".

Eid al-Adha, or the “Feast of Sacrifice,” signifies the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim, known as Abraham in Christianity & Judaism, to sacrifice his son, Ismail as ordered by Allah. It is one of Islam’s most important holidays.

Some Muslims may give money to charity to give poorer families the chance to have a proper Eid feast, while mosques and community groups will often arrange communal meals."

GIRL SCOUT MEMORABILIA POST:

#59

Shown only in the Fall 1946 and Spring 1947 Girl Scout catalogs, this little 3” x 3” Arbutus Soap Leaves album contained paper-thin squares of dehydrated soap, separated by sheets of tissue. Pull out a leaf, rub it in your wet hands, and you had soap! It was intended for use at camp and when traveling, and the price was 10 cents per album. Arbutus is a type of flowering plant and it was used to scent the soap leaves.

Nobody wants slippy-sloppy. Or was it sloppy-slippy? Either way, taking the wrong footwear on the trail can quickly turn a fun hike into a painful one. Before heading out, research the route and terrain so you can choose the right gear for your adventure. Heels, open-toed shoes, and flip-flops are not ideal for hiking trails. For dirt or gravel trails, opt for sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes with good traction and ankle support. For paved or urban pathways, comfortable sneakers or tennis shoes are usually a better fit. Your feet will thank you later.

Now, to be fair, it's ! Flip-flops are great for beach parks, the pool, short walks, getting lost in the parking lot, or just embracing vacation mode. But rocky trails, waterfalls, uneven terrain, being chased by a herd of bison, mud, and steep inclines? That’s where things can get a little…well, slippy. Also sloppy.

Make good choices.

Image: A screenshot of a post from the National Park Service account on X that reads: “Always hike with proper supplies and equipment. Remember, flippy floppies may lead to slippy sloppies.”
