Prost to an unforgettable Oktoberfest at SummerWood of Plymouth! 🥨🍺

We had a jolly good time celebrating together, filled with great music, delicious treats, and wonderful company. A very special thank you to our resident, Bobbi, who surprised us with a curated b**r tasting—sharing the fascinating history of Oktoberfest and the story behind each select brew!

The room was truly brought to life with live accordion music, and a few folks even got up to dance between the tables! 🎶💃🕺

A massive thank you to our staff, residents, and everyone who helped put this together. Days like this remind us of how lucky we are for the friendship, warmth, and family togetherness that makes SummerWood such a special place to call home.

When we announced our America's 250th Door Decorating Contest, resident Rita thought, "I don't have anything to decorate with."

Then she remembered a quilt she had made years ago.

Using a traditional pattern as her starting point, Rita created an American flag quilt of her own, adjusting the design so the flag appears to wave in the wind, just the way she wanted it.

The quilt carries special meaning. Rita's husband served as a civil engineer in the U.S. Army and is buried at Fort Snelling. After his passing, she wanted a flying flag displayed at their home. Years later, when it became time to leave the house they had shared for 50 years, Rita toured SummerWood of Plymouth with her family. By the next morning, she had reserved an apartment.

"The four of us looked at each other and knew this was home," she said.

Since moving in, Rita says she loves the quiet, the convenience of no stairs, and the kindness of her neighbors and team members.

As for quilting?

"People don't really understand. They think quilting is about cutting up pieces and putting them together. But it gives you a lot of joy."

Today, that joyful quilted flag is proudly waving from Rita's front door once again.

❤️🤍💙

And the winners are official! 🇺🇸✨

At our Resident Meeting this week, we had the wonderful pleasure of announcing the top three doors in our 250th Anniversary Door Decorating Contest!

Out of so many amazing entries across our community, these three fantastic displays took home the top honors:

🥇 1st PLACE! 🎉 "Freedom Snoopy" — Snoopy saluting from his festive red doghouse, the star balloon, and those charming patriotic gnomes made this door an instant favorite!

🥈 2nd PLACE! ⭐️ "Happy 250th USA" — With its classic wreath, "Stars and Stripes" banner, and bold "USA" letters, this door was a beautifully elegant display of red, white, and blue.

🥉 3rd PLACE! ✨ "USA Sparkle" — Featuring a firework backdrop, cheerful red bows, and twinkling stars, this entry brought so much festive energy to SummerWood.

A heartfelt thank you to every resident who participated and shared their creativity with our community. We are so proud of everyone who made this celebration so special!
