"Here we are in 2026...I am able to see another birthday. I am forever grateful to my donor, my 'Organ Buddy.' We have gotten so close through this whole process. It seems were more like family. It has also made me look at life through a different lens. The transplant process puts into perspective what matters, what doesn't, what's in your control and what needs to be released."

Tiffany (left in photo) was diagnosed with a rare liver disease in high school that progressed in severity over the years until her medical team suggested that a living liver transplant was her best option. Tiffany posted her story to social media and a family friend, Nora, messaged saying she was interested in being evaluated as a living donor. They were a match! In September of 2025, Tiffany and Nora had their surgeries. They both had complications but today are doing well.

When June was younger, her brother, Brian, went into kidney failure. Her dad, a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, was able to be Brian's living kidney donor. After nearly 20 years with his donated kidney, Brian was in need of another transplant. Now much older, June was able to get tested to be her brother's living donor, and in 2005, June and Brian underwent a successful transplant. Thanks to the generosity of June and her dad, their family had many more years with Brian, but sadly, Brian passed away from organ failure in 2014. Now, June is an advocate for donation, volunteering and competing in the Transplant Games of America. πŸ’™πŸ’š

On , we honor the individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Corporal Benjamin S. Kopp, a member of the 75th Army Ranger Regiment, saved six of his comrades when his unit came under attack in Afghanistan. He was mortally wounded and saved four more lives back in the United States through his selfless gift of organ donation. To honor Corporal Kopp and all other brave soldiers who became organ, eye and tissue donors, the Fallen Soldier statue stands at the National Donor Memorial and honors members of our military who made organ, eye, and tissue donation their last courageous act of service. The site is a place of peace for all who wish to honor the gift of life! πŸ’™πŸ’š

At age 25, Maria was diagnosed with Alport Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive kidney disease. After two decades of battling the disease, her kidneys eventually went into complete failure. She was referred to the Mayo Clinic to begin the process of evaluation and placement on the kidney transplant waiting list. After a procedure to remove a mass on her right kidney, Maria started daily dialysis treatments. Her sister traveled from North Carolina to be with her and shared Maria's story on social media, asking friends and family to consider becoming a living donor. A cousin they had never met reached out after seeing the message. Maria's transplant took place in June of 2022. The surgery was successful, and because of her cousin's generosity, Maria was given a second chance at life. ""Today, I am blessed to be here, healthy and able to enjoy life again. My son will graduate from high school [this month], and I look forward to watching him build a beautiful future. This journey taught me that miracles are real, that family can arrive in unexpected ways, and that a single act of love can save a life.πŸ’™πŸ’š
