Dear O.U.R. Camp Family,
Every year for the last nineteen summers, we look forward to connecting with our Campers and their families at each session of our summer camp. But given the growing concerns around COVID-19 and after much careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the summer camp for 2020.
Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold summer camp this year for our Campers. But we know it is the right decision based on the information we have today. Our primary concerns are the health and safety of our campers, their families, and our staff. As you know, O.U.R. Camp is open to all children with special needs, including children with compromised immune systems. While we would adhere to any state or federal guidelines, the risk to our Campers from the coronavirus is too great at this time. This is not only true for the children, but also their family members, who include people in vulnerable populations, which make them more susceptible to the effects of the virus.
This was truly a tough call to make as O.U.R. Camp provides the socialization and educational continuity that our Campers need throughout the summer to transition the Campers back into students for the following school year. However, we need to prioritize the health and safety of our Campers, their families, and our staff. Our hearts ache at having to make this decision, but it is in the best interest of those we cherish most.
We know that it is difficult to find a summer camp that fits the needs of your child, and that many summer camps are making similar decisions as O.U.R. Camp. But these times are unprecedented, and the Board has not taken this decision lightly. We want our Campers to remain healthy, and join us again in 2021.
We will keep in touch with you as we plan to hold camp again next year! Please like our page to receive real-time updates as we plan for Camp in 2021!
Thank you for your support of O.U.R. Camp—past, present and future.
Wishing you a safe summer,
2019 – 2020 O.U.R. Camp, Inc. Board
