TEXTILE TRAILER FULL. Our Textile Drive was a smashing success. The trailer filled up to the top in less than three hours. Thanks to everyone who donated. We will have another drive in the Fall. Sustainable Pinehills Committee.

Textile drive this weekend. Sustainable Pinehills is conducting its semiannual textile drive this Sat June 6 and Sunday June 7 at the Stonebridge Club. Everyone is welcome to drop off unwanted textiles. We use all the proceeds to produce community recycling events. I will be there Sat from 10-2 pm handing out munchkins. Hope to see you there.

Thank you! I am deeply honored by the trust you have placed in me to represent Precinct 15 as one of your next Town Meeting Members. I am incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support and encouragement throughout this campaign. As your representative, I promise to work for the values we share--a comprehensive education curriculum, the need to defend our environment from climate change, curtailing overdevelopment, championing housing affordability, protecting our open space, and practicing fiscal responsibility.
I want to extend my sincere congratulations and thanks to all the candidates who put themselves forward in this election. Running for office is hard, demanding, and often thankless work. Yet, it is only through this rigorous democratic process that we, as a community, can shape the Plymouth of tomorrow.

Manomet Community Garden at St. Bonaventure is on its way to its next bumper crop which will supply the St. Bonaventure and Second Parish food pantries. Residents of the village of Manomet and local businesses have partnered with the Manomet Community Garden Association, to create a one-thousand square foot garden dedicated to supplying these food pantries with fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. In addition, the garden also includes six fruit trees, a pollinator garden, a number of berry and herb bushes, as well as a pumpkin patch. Select Board candidates were asked hard questions from versed voters at last night's candidate's forum at Town Hall. These questions included how they would build commercial tax revenue to offset property taxes, whether they supported the recently enacted Town by law prohibiting the Town from collaborating with ICE, and how to address the current discord among SB members. Town Meeting codifies ICE restrictions. This by-law will prohibit Plymouth Law Enforcement and Town officials from performing the duties of ICE agents including participating in ICE raids. Because it is now a law, it can not be countermanded by shifting personnel such as a different police chief or Select Board members. It also sets the foundation for a public facing campaign to build trust in the immigrant community to encourage their participation in community policing. The law draws a clear line between the conduct of our Plymouth Police and ICE.

The Plymouth Community Trust By-Law prohibits Town officials and Plymouth law enforcement from acting as ICE agents. At their last meeting, the Committee of Precinct Chairs heard testimony on why this is important for Plymouth.

Our March Fireside Chat featured a discussion of prohibiting Plymouth law enforcement and Town officials from acting as ICE agents plus the disposition of Memorial Hall. Stakeholders and local Town Meeting Members lead a community discussion at the Stonebridge Club on these and other issues that will be discussed at the Spring Town Meeting.

There was a full house at the Meet & Greet to re-elect Kevin Canty for Select Board at my home last week. It was great to see so many supporters. The Town election is on Saturday, May 16.
