Our thoughts and prayers are with Rick’s family. The town of Plymouth lost a great medic, mentor and friend. Whether it was doing 30 calls in a 24 hour period on A2 or mentoring future paramedics on A3 Rick always brought a good attitude and work ethic to every call he went on. Every patient he had felt they were the most important person in the world. Thank you for your years of service to the town and its residents.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Richard Scherbarth. 🙏🏼💙
Richard joined Brewster Ambulance in 2015 and proudly served as a Paramedic within the Plymouth 911 system. He was known for his professionalism, clinical excellence, and calm leadership in the moments that mattered most.
He worked alongside his wife within the Plymouth 911 system, sharing years as partners on A2. Their partnership reflected a deep commitment to one another and to the community they served.
Richard previously served 29 years with COMM Fire as a Firefighter, Lieutenant, and Paramedic, ten years with Mattapoisett Police & EMS, and briefly with Marion Fire & EMS as a Lieutenant/EMS Supervisor. As a provider, instructor, field training officer, and mentor, he touched countless lives throughout his decades of service.
He was deeply respected by his peers and Plymouth Fire Personnel and leaves behind a lasting legacy in the fire and EMS community.
We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving with him.
