Roanoke River Lighthouse and Maritime Museum History travels on the water. The RRL&MM is operated by the non-profit Washington County Waterways Commission.

The RRL&MM's mission is to collect, preserve, interpret and present the rich, diverse history of the Roanoke River and Albemarle Sound region.

The Roanoke River Lighthouse and Maritime Museum will be open without admission during the National Black Bear Festival Friday and Saturday. The Washington County Art show is housed in the Museum's event center. This year's entries are amazing! Be sure to make the Roanoke River Lighthouse and Maritime Museum a destination during the festival!

Huge turnout tonight for Bland Simpson's presentation about the Roanoke River. Lyrical prose from Bland's books and beautiful photos shot by his wife, Ann. Many thanks to Bland and Ann for making the drive up from Beaufort, and to our curator Mark Pardue and volunteers Dr. Leon Pringle and John Taylor for setting up and keeping everything running smoothly. It was a memorable evening for the Roanoke River Lighthouse and Maritime Museum.
