The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has declared a statewide Code Purple Air Quality Action Day for Particle Pollution for Friday, July 17, 2026, due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Wildfire smoke from Ontario, Canada, and Minnesota continues to worsen air quality across Pennsylvania.

Code Purple air quality is classified as very unhealthy. All people should limit or avoid outdoor activities. Pets and other animals should be kept indoors to the extent possible.

Individuals at increased risk, including older adults, children, pregnant people, and those with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions, should take extra precautions and remain indoors whenever possible.

Indoor Locations Available for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness!

The Your Way Home Montgomery County encourages anyone seeking relief from today's unhealthy air conditions to access indoor, air-conditioned spaces whenever possible. Teamwork makes dreamwork! Thank you Plymouth Township Police Department for coordinating this partnership!

Holding true to the Plymouth Township Police Department mission,โ€ The mission of all employees of the Plymouth Township Police Department is to faithfully provide service to the citizens of this Township and to those who come within our care and jurisdiction.โ€, we recently assisted individuals in need.

Partnering with , .society , 's Liberty Service Station, EVB Towing Recovery Transport , and the Plymouth Township Police Department, we successfully assisted a family of three with transportation, food, hotel accommodations, and additional care until their safe return to western Pennsylvania.

Thank you again to all our partners, Social Services Co-Responder Kya and Officer Agudo. The ability to create positive interactions and help others proves again, working together makes an entire community stronger.
