Yesterday, members from JBS, Citterio, Cargill, Hometown Foods, Hershey, Wise, and Empire Kosher traveled to the Pennsylvania State Capitol to urge lawmakers to pass House Bill 1923.

HB 1923 would establish mandatory workplace safety committees, new hire training, and language requirements in Pennsylvania’s meatpacking and food processing facilities. This legislation would require employers to engage directly with workers on safety issues—helping reduce serious injuries, improve efficiency, and empower workers to play an active role in their own safety.

Our members did an outstanding job advocating for their co-workers and all workers in these essential industries, meeting with multiple State Senators and staff to push this legislation forward.

House Bill 1923 passed the Pennsylvania House in February with strong bipartisan support (122–76) and is now in the Pennsylvania Senate.

It’s time for the Senate to act to protect worker safety. Contact your Senator today and urge them to pass HB 1923! Find your Senator: https://www.palegis.us/find-my-legislator

That’s because for the last 20 years Kroger has been running an aggressive anti-union campaign to keep the union out of new st...

Worker Safety Victory in Harrisburg!✊ This important legislation strengthens safety standards in the meatpacking & food processing industry. We thank Rep. Jim Haddock for his leadership on this issue!

Your union proudly supported this bill alongside the PA AFL-CIO, standing up for safer workplaces and stronger protections. Now, the bill moves to the State Senate. We’ll keep fighting to make sure workers’ voices are heard every step of the way!
