Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the light of Your truth through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Too often I keep that light to myself instead of sharing the hope I have in Him. Forgive me for those times. Strengthen me through Your Word and help me grow in faith and Christlike love. Allow me to reflect Your light and truth so that others may come to know the saving grace found in Jesus. In His name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, You know my thoughts and desires, and You know that I often make plans and think I know the best way forward. Help me remember that my life is not my own, and forgive me for the times I trust in my own wisdom more than Your guidance. Help me desire Your will more than my own and trust Your direction even when I cannot see the whole path before me. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to be my Savior and to lead me through every season of life. Keep my steps secure in Your promises and help me follow wherever You lead. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The Church is militant: first the cross, then the crown. Today Christ tells us that for him and for us, going God’s way means death must come before life. He calls on us to deny ourselves and follow him on the way of the cross. Those words offend our sinful flesh and make our Old Adam cry with Peter, “Never!” They make us accuse God with Jeremiah. So today the Church prays for the neverfailing mercy of Christ that we might avoid such wicked and harmful thoughts and instead be guided on the cross-laden path to salvation. Then, and only then, do these words of Christ cease offending our flesh and become a joy and delight for our heart.

Heavenly Father, I want to believe Your promises that You are my refuge and strength. Yet, life often feels uncertain, and the storms around me can seem overwhelming. Remind me that You are always near and that I can trust You in every situation. Help me rest in Your care and find peace in Your promises. Heavenly Father, You are worthy of all my love and devotion. Yet, I confess that I do not always love You with all my heart because of distractions and struggles. Please forgive me for those times when I have not loved You with my whole heart. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, who loved You perfectly in my place and gave His life for my salvation. Help me stay focused on You, strengthen my faith through Your Word, and grow in my love for You each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
