Plevna Fire was paged out to a fire this afternoon. The fire was a grass fire that was a possibility of being 2 structure fires, so baker fire was paged out as mutual aid. The fire was contained to under 5 acres. PFD had 5 grass rigs, 1 tender, and the command vehicle on scene. Thanks to all agencies for the quick response to keep things from getting worse.

PFD ended up going back out on another fire today that was burning in rough country not far from last night's fire. There're were several agencies plus air support helping. There is still a large fire burning in Custer County right now. Tomorrow is supposed to be very hot and windy with red flag warnings. Fire danger is very high, making them extremely hard to catch. Please be careful and be sure to report any new fires that pop up. The faster we can respond, the better chance we have at stopping it before it gets too big.

Last night was a busy night. The lightning storm that rolled through started many fires throughout Custer, Prairie, and Fallon counties. We ended up on 2 separate fires, and luckily we were able to stop both before they were too big. The first was a mutual aid fire near Ismay. On the way there, you could see the glow from more fires to the north. The second fire was in rough country that we couldn't get our grass rigs down in to. Thankfully it rained enough to help us stop it. There were at least 2 more that we could see west of us that were much larger. Other agencies were on those fires. Keep an eye out for smoke today, as sometimes trees will smolder through the night, then ignite when it dries out the next day.
