Select Connects was so happy to host our local police officers for Coffee with a Cop! ☕️👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

Coffee with a Cop is a chance for community members and officers to meet in a relaxed, welcoming setting, get to know one another, and have open conversations. We enjoyed sharing coffee and treats while our officers introduced themselves and connected with everyone. We even played a fun game of Kahoot!

Thank you to our officers for spending time with us. We loved having you here and are grateful for the connection between our community and the people who serve it. 💙

Candle Making with Honey Note Candle Bar🕯️

Join New Hope Community’s SHS Division for a fun, creative evening on Friday, October 23, from 6–8 p.m. Proceeds support Select Connects and the new SHS Teaching Kitchen, helping build skills, independence, and community.

Tickets are $70 per person and include all candle-making materials, one finished candle, dessert, and one complimentary raffle ticket. Raffle baskets will also be available!

CycleAbility 2026! 🚲🎉

On Saturday, an incredible group of cyclists took on 70 miles in support of the Teaching Kitchen.

For months, these riders have been fundraising to support the kitchen and our programs, and over the weekend, they put their strength and determination to the test and they absolutely crushed it!

🍎 Fall is in full swing here at Select Connects!

✨ Meet Our Self Direction Team! ✨

Self Direction gives people with developmental disabilities and their families greater choice, flexibility, and control over their services. It allows each person to create supports based on their individual goals, interests, needs, and preferred lifestyle—including choosing the staff who support them.

Our dedicated Self Direction team works closely with individuals, families, and support staff to provide guidance, answer questions, manage services, and help each person build a meaningful and independent life within their community.

We are proud to introduce the wonderful team behind these important services and grateful for the commitment, compassion, and advocacy they demonstrate every day! 💙

In honor of Direct Support Professional Recognition Week, we are celebrating our incredible Program Specialists at Select Connects! Their compassion, patience, and dedication shine through in everything they do. Each day, they go above and beyond to support, encourage, and create meaningful opportunities for every one of our participants.

Their hard work makes a lasting difference in the lives of the people we serve, and Select Connects truly would not be the program it is today without our amazing staff. Although this week is dedicated to recognizing them, they deserve to be celebrated and appreciated every single day. We are so grateful for everything they do! 💙

On 9/9 we had the privilege of attending a celebration held by the Westchester County of Mental Health department honoring Direct Support Professionals!

It was an amazing event attended by over 100 people including local government officials and other agencies that support people with developmental disabilities. Joe Macbeth was the keynote speaker who delivered an empowering speech regarding the extremely difficult jobs DSPs have and the importance of recognizing the vital role they have in people’s lives.

It was an amazing experience to celebrate everyone working in the non-profit sector and highlighting how our work supporting one of our most vulnerable populations deserves to be both valued and respected.

🌟 Self Direction DSP of the Year – 2026 🌟

We are proud to announce that Jennifer Iroche has been named New Hope Community’s 2026 Self Direction DSP of the Year! 🎉👏

Jennifer began supporting her cousin Dioka in 2023. Since then, she has been a strong advocate, providing the consistency, structure, nurturing support, and encouragement that have helped him make tremendous progress toward his valued outcomes.

Jennifer demonstrates exceptional professionalism through detailed documentation, timely completion of requirements, and excellent communication with the Self Direction Team. ✅

Dioka’s mother shared that Jennifer arrives with a bright smile and is greeted by Dioka with their special handshake. Their days include reading, card games, exercise, using his speech device, practicing daily living skills, and taking long walks. Through Jennifer’s support, Dioka’s reading skills and attentiveness have greatly improved.

She also praised Jennifer’s patience, empathy, and creativity on challenging days, describing her as “dependable, warm, consistent, and caring.”

Thank you, Jennifer, for your hard work, dedication, and compassion. New Hope is proud to recognize you as our 2026 Self Direction DSP of the Year! 🏆🎊
