Purchasing a brick is an opportunity to leave an imprint at Pleasantville High School in a unique, charitable way.

For $100, your graduate or retiree’s name is etched on a premium-quality red brick for placement in the PHS Alumni Plaza. Brick donors and honorees are invited to the annual brick-laying ceremony at Alumni Plaza on PHS Homecoming Weekend.

Monies raised through your brick donation go to the Pleasantville Fund For Learning (PFFL), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides private funding to enrich public education programs in the Pleasantville School District.

Thanks to lohud for this story on The Zones of Regulation at Bedford Road School which features tools accessible in the classroom to help self-regulate students' emotions. This year, each classroom and shared spaces like the cafeteria are equipped with a tool box known as the “Getting to Green Self-Regulation Kit” as part of the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum. The kit includes stress balls, a journal and note cards with different mindfulness techniques. This was one of the grants that PFFL funded this year. We love seeing our grants in action!

PFFL Needs You!

The Pleasantville Fund for Learning (PFFL) has been looking for new leadership and members to continue the legacy of PFFL and all that it offers our children. Without the support of parents in our Pleasantville community to participate in this ongoing tradition, PFFL will no longer be able to sustain itself. It's time for the current board to pass on the torch!

Since it was established in 1994, the Pleasantville Fund for Learning has had a hand in impacting Pleasantville children’s education – from the moment they walk through the BRS doors for kindergarten, until the day they walk down the PHS lawn in cap and gown. PFFL is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage innovation, extend educational opportunities, and enhance educational programs in the School District.

These are the educational grants that we were proud to able to award for the 2025 Spring Grant Cycle:

PLEASANTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL:
1. STAR Program
2. Maker Space Design Studio

PLEASANTVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL:
1. Art Specific I-Pad Software for Students 5th-8th Grade and Stylus Equipment
2. Project Lead the Way App Creators

BEDFORD ROAD SCHOOL:
1. Revitalizing the BRS Library to Support the Students
2. Supplies for “Getting to the Green” Self-Regulation Room-
3. “Getting to the Green” Self-Regulation Room Classroom Kits

Over the years, PFFL has been led by a team of dedicated parent/community volunteers who plan fundraising events, as well as manage the allocation of the grants. With the passing of years, those members who have contributed their time and expertise step aside for new members to take the lead and bring new energy and ideas with them.

At this point, we're looking to pass on the reins and offer others the opportunity to be a part of this truly rewarding volunteer experience. If we cannot find members of the community to continue the work of PFFL, the organization will, unfortunately, not be able to function to its full capacity. We know that "many hands make light work." You and a group of friends can come together to establish an executive board to implement continue the mission of PFFL for our Pleasantville students while making memories and having fun together!

Please reach out to Danielle Kaley ([email protected]) or Andi Busch ([email protected]) for more detailed information about the organization, along with how we will facilitate a smooth transition to ensure that PFFL continues its mission of helping to enrich the learning experiences of our children.
