The Easter Bunny will be busy hiding eggs in Pleasantville, just for teens in grades 7th – 12th, starting Monday, April 14th and hiding more every day until Saturday!

He knows teens want more than just candy filled eggs, so this year’s prizes include things teens love!

Mr. Bunny also knows how smart the teens in Pleasantville are, so he always makes these eggs a little harder to find. They’ll really have to hunt for these eggs hidden around town.

Please join us on Tuesday, March 25th, beginning at 6:00 pm, when we present the 2024 Business of the Year award to Celeste Hudspeth, owner of Celeste's Crafty Corner!

Celeste's creativity, generosity, and entrepreneurial spirit have left a lasting mark on our community. Not only does she participate in local craft shows, but she also organizes multiple fairs throughout the year, giving fellow crafters and entrepreneurs a platform to share their work. And in true Celeste fashion, she often donates vendor fees to local nonprofits, turning each event into an opportunity to give back.

Please join us on Tuesday, March 25th, beginning at 6:00 pm, when we present the award to Jennifer Vrban Latch as our 2024 Volunteer of the Year!

Jennifer has been instrumental in establishing the Library Action Committee, which later became the Friends of Webb Shadle Memorial Library. Her dedication was critical in transitioning the library to city ownership, which guarantees its longevity for generations to come.

Jennifer is also deeply involved in Pleasantville Fine Arts, serving as vice president in 2021 and taking on the role of president in 2022, a position she holds to this day. Her leadership has brought creative opportunities to our town, from fundraising efforts to organizing major events like the fall craft fair, dinner theater, and spring showcase. Thanks to her vision and relentless efforts, she has raised significant funds, expanded resources, and inspired others to support the arts.

City wide garage sales will be held Wednesday, June 4th - June 7th.

If you would like your garage sale to be included in the listing and on the map, e-mail [email protected] with your name, address, dates/times for your sale, and a very short description of items in your garage sale. A $2 fee applies for each listing to help cover the printing costs. You may mail payment to PO Box 672, Pleasantville, Iowa 50225 or you may also stop by Pleasantville City Hall to drop off your information along with your payment.

Deadline for listings is Friday, May 30th. Maps will be available Monday, June 2nd on our web site, Pleasantville City Hall, and the Pleasantville Post Office.

We've talked with Santa and Mrs. Claus and have made the hard decision to cancel tonight. We won't be able to light the displays due to the rain, and he's concerned someone will slip in the parking lot or on the sidewalks while coming to see him. He wants to see everyone safe and healthy for the holidays!

Beginning at 5 pm each night, drive through Cora Shadle Park to enjoy the lighted Christmas displays.

On Saturday, December 14th, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Enjoy the songs of the season while warming up with a cup of hot chocolate.

You may not want to wait until tomorrow to see the lighted Christmas displays in the park. If the weather person is right, we're expecting rain tomorrow. We can't keep the displays running in the rain, so tonight might be your last chance this season! Santa and Mrs. Claus will still be in the shelter house tomorrow night from 5 pm to 8 pm, rain or not!
