PleasantvilleRecycles will be hosting its Fall Sports Swap this Saturday, September 19, from 10am to 2pm at the Pleasantville Recreation Center. This community event is for donating/receiving new and gently used sports equipment. All equipment is given away free of charge, and there is no need to donate to "shop"!

DONATIONS ACCEPTED THIS WEEK AND AT THE EVENT!
If you'd like to donate sports equipment before the swap, a collection bin is available at the Pleasantville Recreation Department from now until Friday, Sept 18th. The Recreation Center is located at 48 Marble Avenue, and donations are accepted Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm.

Please make sure equipment is clean and dry before donating.

The Village of Pleasantville announced it would partner with Helpsy to offer residents a free, convenient home pickup service for unwanted clothing, shoes, linens, and other textiles.

Every year, millions of pounds of reusable and recyclable textiles end up in landfills. Through this partnership, residents have an easy way to recycle unwanted items, helping reduce waste, conserve resources, and lower municipal disposal costs.

How It Works

Schedule a free pickup by visiting www.helpsy.com/pleasantvilleny or calling 1-800-244-6350.

Place your unwanted textiles in a closed plastic bag. All items should be clean, dry, and odor-free. Leave the bags outside your front door, porch, mailbox, or another designated pickup location by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Special pickup instructions can be provided when scheduling.

What Can Be Recycled?

Helpsy accepts a wide variety of items in any condition for reuse or recycling, including:

Clothing for all ages
Shoes and boots
Coats and jackets
Hats, belts, handbags, backpacks, scarves, gloves, and jewelry
Bedding, blankets, sheets, comforters, curtains, and other household linens
Stuffed animals, luggage, and sports jerseys

Every year, PleasantvilleRecycles coordinates a Zero Waste effort at the Pleasantville Music Festival. We divert hundreds of pounds of recyclables and compostables from the music festival's waste stream.

New recycling app ‘Recycle Coach’ now available--

Village residents now have access to a new recycling app. Westchester County’s Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF) partnered with ‘Recycle Coach’ to launch a free mobile app to help make recycling and solid waste information more accessible for Village residents. The Sustainable Westchester mobile app, ‘Recycle Right Westchester’, is no longer available.
‘Recycle Coach’ connects residents with their collection schedules, shares local disposal and recycling information and supplies educational tools to help make it easier to recycle products.

Users can access ‘Recycle Coach’ from their desktop computers and mobile devices.
Residents can utilize ‘Recycle Coach’ to:
• Stay organized with specific curbside collection and events calendars;
• Receive collection reminders and real-time updates on service disruptions;
• Help reduce the amount of contamination in the curbside recycling stream by learning how to make mindful and informed recycling decisions;
• The comprehensive “What Goes Where?” search tool includes local disposal information and collection requirements for common and uncommon items;
• Image Recognition tool uses your phone’s camera to take pictures to identify items and tell the user how to properly dispose of the item;
• Share useful recycling tips
Users can access ‘Recycle Coach’ for free from their desktop computers and mobile devices. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

This year's Pleasantville Music Festival is coming on July 13th, and the lineup is fun and amazing!

Since 2012, PleasantvilleRecycles has been working with the PMF organizers and the village to divert recyclable and compostable materials from the waste stream. Our volunteers and collection tents will be set up again this year.

We're still seeking volunteers to help us with our Zero Waste work. If you can help, please fill out and submit a volunteer form at the PMF Volunteer website.
