Good evening Junior Fair Rabbit Exhibitors,

Over the past week, there have been questions and concerns shared with OSU Extension/Fairfield Co. 4-H as well as with the Junior Fair Rabbit Committee regarding animal health and the upcoming Junior Fair.

In light of this, we will be hosting a Virtual Meeting and Q&A Session for Rabbit Exhibitor Families on Sunday, October 4th at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.
• Connect with us at: http://go.osu.edu/oct4rabbitmtg.
• Please share appropriately with other members of your club/chapter.
• Dr. Steve DeBruin with Feeder Creek Vet Clinic (Fairfield County Fair’s contracted veterinary service) will be on the call.

Please submit questions in advance by emailing [email protected] by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4th.

As you may know, the Skillathon is a requirement for Fairfield County livestock/horse/dog exhibitors. For this event to be successful, we are going to need many volunteers. We hope that you may be available to assist us on either or both days! If so, please complete this survey to sign up and volunteer: http://go.osu.edu/skillathonvolunteer.

The date for the first Skillathon is Saturday, September 12th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. (time frame for scheduling youth appointments). This Skillathon is for exhibitors that will be showing beef, dairy beef, swine, sheep, goats, and dairy cattle.

The second Skillathon will be held on Saturday, September 26th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. (time frame for scheduling youth appointments). This Skillathon is for the exhibitors showing dogs, rabbits, poultry, alpacas/llamas, and horses.

The volunteer time commitment is important for this event to be successful. During your volunteer time, you will be asked to supervise various activity stations. The volunteer needs to select their top 3 areas for which you would like to participate and select a time period during which to volunteer. Additionally, if you have experience with 4-H/FFA record books, we could use assistance in the “book room” evaluating record books.

Lunch will be provided for volunteers and staff both days.

Thanks for helping with this event and making it successful. Questions about volunteering for Skillathon events can be directed to Leslie Cooksey, 4-H Educator, at [email protected] or Sarah Martin, Skillathon Superintendent, at [email protected].
