Assistance League of Amador Valley

Assistance League of Amador Valley Philanthropic Programs, Fundraising Events and Community Financial Support We have many other programs where we make our community a better place to live.

Assistance League® of Amador Valley is a chapter of National Assistance League of which there are 120 in the United States. Under the guidance of National Assistance League we have over 75 members who do hands on volunteerism in the Tri-Valley serving children, teens and seniors in the cities of Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore. We clothe over 400 needy children each year and give out over 1200 books for them to take home to read through our Operation School Bell® program.

Ada Edwards Laughlin, co-founder of Assistance League®️, served as Anne Banning’s hardworking, behind-the-scenes assistant and helped grow Assistance League into a national organization. The Ada Edwards Laughlin Award recognizes a member for longevity of service as a committee member, helper, and friend to all; sustained enthusiasm and participation in chapter programs and activities; and demonstrated a willingness to dedicate the time and commitment needed to complete assigned task. The recipient also continues to represent- and live - the values of Assistance League®️. Much like Ada, Jan can be found behind the scenes doing whatever needs to be done.

This year’s recipient of the 2026 Ada Edwards Laughlin Award is Jan Woods. Jan is a hardworking, can-do team player who has served our chapter for many years. She has supported the chapter superbly by stepping into multiple roles and making a significant impact on our fundraising efforts- most notably by securing gift card donations from many local businesses for our annual Crab Feed Balloon Pop.

Jan has been a member of Assistance League®️ of Amador Valley for 8 years and has participated in a variety of chapter programs, including Operation School Bell®️, Clothing the Children, and the Kids In Need program, working closely with the Dublin Unified School District.
