WAVE WEDNESDAY
I would like to share a post that was on FB 8 years ago! It’s amazing to read how much WAVE has grown and changed the lives of the children in the village of Godenu. Since that article in the Ghanaian newspaper, WAVE has donated another 140 desks, installed playground equipment, completed 3 school blocks for K through 6 grade, built a 7 stall toilet facility a recently built a new Jr. High School. Not to mention the last trip to the village was my 19th visit to see the children.
Thank you to everyone who’s donations have made this possible.

WAVE WEDNESDAY
Great news from the village of Godenu. The chief submitted the paperwork to the government for approval to make the new Jr. High a government school. Considerations were: the number of children who will attend, distance to the other Jr. High in the area, will our school impact the attendance of the other school, can the government supply books, do they have teachers and is the building ok.
A team from the government came to the village to do an inspection last week. Everything was approved with high scores. The team was very happy to see the work that has been done and said they have never seen the quality of the new Jr. High in the entire district.
Thank you to the chief, Togbe Osei III for all your great efforts in getting the school built.
The school will open in September for the 7th graders.

WAVE WEDNESDAY
Education is the best gift we can give any child. Thank you Salu, Bob, Fr. Kwame, Elaine, Lori, Melissa and Rosemary for teaching a class when you went to the village. Let’s keep sharing our knowledge to children all over the world. The children in the village have learned so much with people joining me on my trips to Ghana. When I first went to the village, the children didn’t know anything about the US, where Ghana was on the map; because they had never seen a map of the world. Through your donations, WAVE has change the lives of these children. Thank you. WAVE4kids.org. Please share.

WAVE WEDNESDAY.
The children are back to school from their spring break and happy to return to their classrooms. The repairs are done and the rooms have been cleaned. Thanks again to all the donors who made it possible for the children not to miss any school. Amazing how fast a building can be repaired. In Africa there is no insurance to deal with or building permits. Hence, everything was restored to new in one week. Your prompt response to WAVE’s emergency fund made it all possible. The school year will finish in July and when school resumes in September the 7th graders will be in the new Jr. High School. It’s exciting times in the village. The next project will be to furnish the 7th grade with desks. I will be going back to Ghana in October. If anyone is interested in going, please contact me. Blessings to everyone for all your support.

WAVE WEDNESDAY
WAVE is proud to announce that the school repairs have been completed. A new roof with support beams were built within one week of the tornado, thanks to the diligent work of our Chief, Togbe Osei III. The new classroom ceilings were put in this week. The electrical work was re-installed with the lights and fans put back in place. The children will return to school on Monday after their spring break not having missed a day of school. None of this could have been accomplished without all the donations that came in from the WAVE Emergency Fund drive. THANK YOU, from all of us at WAVE, the Chief, the village children and teachers who made this possible. Your donations and support of WAVE is greatly appreciated. “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” Malcolm X

WAVE WEDNESDAY. Thank you to everyone who made donations over the last week. With the help of the Chief, Togbe Osei III, he spoke with the lumber yard and carpenters to furnish materials and their labor before receiving the money WAVE will send. With that, the materials were delivered, and Togbe hired 12 men to put up the new roofs in 3 days!!! The ceilings will now be put in along with all the electrical reinstalled. With all of Togbe’s hard work the children will not miss any school after their school break. Last week WAVE raised $800.00 and we still need $2,000.00 to complete the project. Donations can be made through, WAVE4kids.org

WAVE WEDNESDAY. I am sad to report that I received a message yesterday from the chief of the village, that a small tornado came through the region and the village was in its path! This is the first time a storm that strong has ever happened. The village sustained a lot of damage. The roof of the older school was ripped off, trees uprooted, living huts blown down, debris was flying all around and there were cars accidents from the heavy winds. Fortunately school let out at 2:00 and the storm came through at 2:55pm. This is the message from the chief:
DISASTER STRIKES THE ROYAL HOUSE OF GODENU : A heavy rain storm had blown down the upper primary block , the KG block and the headmasters office just 30 minutes after school closed for the day . The headmaster alone was in his office but took to his heels for his dear life . Thank God there is no casualty.
WAVE is asking for your help to rebuild the roof. The children cannot attend school until the roof is fix. It is the rainy season now and without the roof getting fix as soon as possible the ceilings will cave in.
Please donate at WAVE4kids.org.
