Scouting America is growing in your area! ⚜️

More families are choosing Scouting, and we’re excited to see that growth happening across the Golden Gate Area Council.

Here are a few highlights from August:
- 1,797 new Scouts recruited through August, ranking GGAC 9th in Scouting America
- 5 new Scouting units opened in August, the second-highest total in Scouting America for the month
- 139 new Scouts joined in Fremont, Newark, and Union City, placing the area 23rd nationally for new youth growth

Behind every number is a young person finding new opportunities to learn, lead, explore, and grow, along with families finding meaningful ways to spend time together.

Cub Scouts give families opportunities to spend quality time together, while Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, and Venturing help youth build leadership, character, and ethical decision-making skills. We’re growing, and there’s room for your family, too!

The Mission Peak District Troop Showcase gives youth ages 11–17 who aren’t currently Scouts a chance to meet 15+ Scouts BSA troops from the Fremont, Newark, and Union City area.

🔬 Calling all Scouts who are curious about science!

The 14th annual Nuclear Science Day for Scouts will take place on December 5, 2026, welcoming Scouts in 8th grade and above for a full day focused on nuclear science.

📅 Date: December 5, 2026
📍 Location: Berkeley Lab

BSA Scouts can meet the requirements for the Nuclear Science merit badge.

Registration closes at 5 p.m. PDT on November 6, 2026.

🌿 Pack 128 from Sebastopol is showing how Scouts can make a difference right in their own community!

This year, Pack 128 took part in two environmental service projects, helping clean up Colgan Creek and participating in the annual Creek to Coast Cleanup Day.

The Scouts worked alongside the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation and Ocean Conservancy, learning how litter affects waterways, wildlife, and the ocean while helping protect local habitats.

It was a great opportunity for Scouts to put the Scout Law into action by being helpful, kind, courteous, and clean.
