Today is virtual auction day at the Alameda County Fair!

Shoutout to Abbie members who won special placing awards:

My name is Chet Babel. I will be attending Castro Valley High school this coming fall. I
Have been with Abbie 4H for four years. My pig’s name is Bob the builder, he is a Hampshire and weighs 225lbs. I have also showed lambs for 3 years. I love to help on my 5th generation cattle ranch. I also play competitively on San Ramon soccer club in my spare time.
I am working hard in 4h so that I can keep on working on my college fund, I am wanting to attend a trade school after high school like my dad & my older brother. I have spent hours getting my pig ready for fair and am excited to provide a great family plenty of food for their freezer!!
I would greatly appreciate anyone considering purchasing my pig!! Bob will taste great I can guarantee that!!!

Hi, my name is Hailey Maggy. I am 9 years old, and have been in Abbie 4H for three years. This is my first year showing market animals at the Alameda County Fair.

I raised two steers this year, Johnny and Dylan. One of my steers, Dylan, is the son of a cow that I showed when I was only two years old! I have enjoyed showing my cattle all over California these last 9 months, and even got to roadtrip to Oregon for my first out of state show! I was also given the opportunity to enter my animals in virtual shows all over the US. In one virtual show I won showmanship, and Johnny won Champion AOB Market Steer, and was Champion for Alameda County!

I also raised a market goat this year, Jesse James. I was able to be there when he was born, and even helped delivering some of his siblings. It was so exciting!

My name is Emma Morrow, I am 16 years old and have been involved in 4-H for 7 years. This is my 5th year raising a pig, and I have learned so much from all my experiences training, feeding, and caring for my animals, along with practicing communication and marketing. Raising swine has been an eye-opening experience for me, as it has allowed me to develop skills I will use throughout my whole life and has educated me on the livestock industry as a whole.

Hi, my name is Preston Ross, I am 12 years old. I’m now in my second year of the Abbie 4-H rabbit project. I have a Dutch, named Lily and a Californian, named Hope. I have enjoyed learning about different rabbits so much that I thought I’d try raising meat rabbits. This is my first year working with meat rabbits. The fair’s virtual auction doesn’t include meat rabbits so I will be selling them privately. I have 4 Californians for sale that were born on May 3, 2020.

Hi! My name is Karleigh Cowan, I am 16 years old and I have been a part of the Abbie 4H swine project for 6 years now. Of those 6 years this is my first year showing a Landrace, his name is Burt. This project has always been fun for me, it gives me the opportunity and privilege to raise and show animals, it shows me how to take on more responsibility, and it allows me to work with a great group of people.
Fortunately the fair will still host a virtual auction this year on July 12th, more details regarding buyer registration will be released soon.
