Scout Highlight
What does Scouting mean to you?
To me, Scouting is a huge opportunity and has been a significant part of my life. It is a wonderful program that has helped me grow and flourish into the person I am today. I have been taught a tremendous amount of skills that will benefit me in my future, and have taken part in numerous service projects. I truly feel I will be able to do great things and help others each day!

What is the best Scouting memory you have?
One of my best Scouting memories that I have is when I first learned how to use flint and steel. It was my first year of Scout camp, and I had just earned my Firem’n Chit. Later that night in my Troop’s campsite, I sat by the campfire circle for an hour until the spark turned into a flame!

What was your most favorite Merit Badge and why?
My favorite Merit Badge was the Rifle Merit Badge. Not only was it fun, but I also saw the most progress. Initially, I was horrible. I completely missed my target and shot another’s. Over time, I learned how to aim better and almost hit the bullseye every time!

What are your future plans?
In the fall, I plan to attend SUNY Plattsburgh in the Nursing Program. Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to grow up and become a nurse just like many of those in my family because my biggest goal in life is to help others. Currently, I aspire to be a labor and delivery nurse.

What is your advice to other Scouts looking to earn their Eagle Scout?
My advice to other Scouts looking to earn their Eagle Scout is to be determined. Believe in yourself and stay motivated through tackling each step. Focus on completing your required Merit Badges and ask your friends, family, and fellow scouts to volunteer for your Eagle Project. Ultimately, know that great things will come from hard work!
