🔥🚒 OCTOBER IS FIRE PREVENTION MONTH! 🚒🔥

Prevention Today. A Safer Tomorrow.

Fire safety starts at home, and a little preparation today can make all the difference tomorrow! 🏡❤️

This October, Iberville Community Awareness Emergency Response (ICAER) is encouraging everyone to take a few simple steps to protect their homes, families, and loved ones.

🏠 HOME FIRE SAFETY
✅ Test smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries when needed.
✅ Create and practice a family fire escape plan.
✅ Keep exits clear and never leave cooking unattended.
✅ Inspect electrical cords and avoid overloading outlets.

🔋 BATTERY SAFETY
✅ Always use manufacturer-approved batteries and chargers.
✅ Never charge devices on beds, couches, or other flammable surfaces.
✅ Keep batteries away from extreme heat.
✅ Stop using batteries that are swollen, damaged, or overheating.

⚡ GENERATOR SAFETY
✅ NEVER operate generators inside homes, garages, or enclosed spaces.
✅ Keep generators at least 20 feet away from your home, with exhaust directed away from doors and windows.
✅ Install and regularly test carbon monoxide detectors.
✅ Allow generators to cool before refueling.
✅ Never connect a generator directly to household wiring without a properly installed transfer switch.

🚨 ICAER 3rd Quarter Meeting | September 24, 2026 🚨

Community awareness, emergency preparedness, and strong partnerships are at the heart of what we do!

On September 24, the Iberville Community Awareness Emergency Response (ICAER) committee held its third-quarter meeting at the Gillis W. Long Center in Carville, Louisiana.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Colonel Stuart West and Sergeant Matthew Dyes for graciously inviting our committee to utilize their facility and for their continued support of ICAER and our mission.

ICAER brings together representatives from local industries, emergency response agencies, and community organizations with a shared commitment to improving communication, emergency preparedness, and public safety throughout Iberville Parish.

Monthly Emergency Drill Test – Monday at 10:00 AM ⁠ ⁠

Iberville Parish will conduct its routine monthly emergency siren test this Monday at 10:00 AM. This is only a test, and no action is required.⁠

Regular testing helps ensure our emergency notification systems are working properly and ready when they’re needed most.⁠

ROAD WORK IS COMING TO IBERVILLE 🚧

We're committed to keeping our residents in the loop on upcoming infrastructure improvements happening across Iberville Parish.

Beginning late July through mid-August, patching and asphalt overlay work will take place on the roads listed below. All roads will remain open and accessible during construction, but motorists should expect temporary delays as crews complete the work safely and efficiently.

🚧 Please slow down, use caution in work zones, and allow a little extra travel time.

📍 St. Gabriel (Manchac Road): Work is scheduled to begin in mid-August, with additional details to be announced soon.

UPDATE: Traffic is currently able to cross. Please expect intermittent closures today as crews make the necessary repairs.

The Grosse Tete Bridge on Hwy 77 is currently experiencing a mechanical problem with its barricades. No vehicle traffic is able to cross at this time. Crews are enroute to make repairs.
