A huge than you to Aroma Joe’s for donating treats for our adults. They donated a coupon for coffee, along with candy. We have always had candy for our children, but this was the first time our parents got a treat - and they loved it. Thank you Aroma Joe’s for making our families feel extra special!

Operation Stay Warm visits Summerbrook. We teamed up with the Southington-Cheshire Y to visit Summerbrook. Our incredible Southington Community Service volunteers were hard at work keeping our community warm. Thanks to their dedication 32 brand-new winter coats found new homes yesterday, bringing our total to 715 coats distributed so far! There was pizza, smiles, coats and a wonderful time had by all. Need a coat or looking to support? Operation Stay Warm continues at The Closet, located at Southington Community Services.

What an incredible achievement for a single day a giving. Over 200 boxes of cereal weighing over 350 pounds of nourishing breakfasts for families who need a hand right now. Kudos to the JF Kennedy Middle School community - both the students who rallied and the teachers who organized and encouraged them. It takes real energy and coordination to pull off a one day drive of that scale.

What a wonderful Open House at Fire Station 3! It was a great experience for everyone to learn more about what our local Fire Department does to keep our community safe. A big thank you to all the wonderful organizations that came together to make this event a success! The Rotary Club of Southington handed out snacks and drinks, while Southington Community Services, the Depaolo’s Community Service after school club, the American Legion Sailors and Soldiers and the Veterans Committee were all there to lead a helping hand. AMS Ambulance brought along their antique ambulance and a popcorn machine, adding even more fun to the day. The kids enjoyed hands on demonstrations, crafts, and staged photos, making it a memorable experience for all. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated, and helped make this such a wonderful community event. It was great to see so many local organizations working together to support Southington. A special shot-out to the Southington Fire Department, all the firefighters, and their entire staff for the incredible work they do every day to keep our community safe! Thank you for your dedication, bravery and commitment to protecting and educating the residents of Southington. We appreciate all that you do!

Southington Community Services would like to thank Sculptors Salon for donating 165 pounds of food to help support our neighbors in need! When Sculptures Salon learned that we were running low on food, they didn’t hesitate, they immediately organized a food drive to help fill our shelves and make a difference in our community. What a wonderful example of a local business recognizing a need and taking action! Your kindness, generosity and compassion remind us how special it is to live in a community where people step up to help one another. Thank you Sculptures Salon for caring about our community and helping us support those who need it most

This event is co-sponsored by the Calendar House and the Southington Veterans Committee. We sincerely appreciate the volunteers and of course our Veterans time and commitment to our community.

A special thank you to the Foundation of Greater New Britain! Not only did they staff Operation Stay Warm this week, but they heard we were short on coats and mittens for our Veterans outreach tomorrow, they stepped up. Mark Brandi stopped by the office today with a check to cover the cost and make sure we have enough coats for our Veterans. What a difference one organization can make in our community. Thank you, Foundation of Greater New Britain!
