The goal of the CJF since 1997 is encouraging 9-11 scholastic journalists to continue their learning at university media programs. More than $57,000 in fellowships has paid for underclassmen/women from 23 different Broward County public schools to attend summer programs and then return to their high schools the next year to share what they learned at the university. The 2026 winners are Mia Rudich and Jocelyn De la Sierra (South Plantation High) and Addison Kostzer (West Broward High).
