Our annual holiday volleyball tournament is back, and the competition is heating up while the weather is (hopefully 😉) cooling down! 🏐❤️ Join us for Deck the Volleyballs on Saturday, December 5th for a day of friendly competition, fun in the sun, and a whole lot of heart!

We’re heading to Pompano Beach to serve up some holiday spirit while supporting the children at Ann Storck Center with developmental disabilities. Every team, every game, and every supporter helps make the holiday season a little brighter for the children we serve!

Indigenous Peoples’ Day was established to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous communities.

Today we celebrate The Seminole Tribe of Florida that has been part of Florida’s history for more than 300 years, with ancestral roots extending back thousands of years.

We’re so grateful Ann Storck Center gets to be a small part of their story, too! ❤️ For more than TWO decades, their generosity has supported our mission, from their continued support of our annual Celebrity Chefs event to the donation of a chickee hut that our staff, clients, and visitors enjoy every day.

Thank you to the Seminole Tribe of Florida for being such a special part of this community and our ASC story!

What does community funding do? For students like Xavier, it means getting out into the world, building job skills, gaining confidence, and working toward their dreams.

Through ASC’s Supported Training and Employment Program (STEP), funded by the Children's Services Council of Broward County, Xavier and students with developmental disabilities at four Broward County high schools are gaining real-world experience and taking steps toward a future filled with possibility. For teenagers with developmental disabilities, experiences like these can be life-changing and is made possible through community funding.

Funding supported through local property-tax revenue, helps programs like STEP provide Broward County students and families with the support, experiences, and resources they need to move toward greater independence.

Every student of EVERY ABILITY deserves the opportunity to discover what they can do and follow where their dreams can take them.

Thank you to Bob Asztalos, Director of APD Florida (Agency for Persons with Disabilities), for spending the day with us at Ann Storck Center! 💚

From touring our residents’ homes and our buzzing school to experiencing some of the music and fun happening around campus, we loved getting to share a little of what makes ASC so special.

We also appreciated the chance to sit down with Bob for a meaningful conversation with our leadership team, share feedback, and talk about the needs and opportunities we see within the disability community.

It’s October 1, which means it’s the kickoff of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 💗

At Ann Storck Center, we’re all heart and always sending love and support to those fighting breast cancer, those in recovery, and the loved ones standing by their side.

We kicked off the month the ASC way, with a little music, a lot of heart, and plenty of smiles with a Jam & Jams sesh in our Adult Day Training Center.

Our morning brought together some special members of the ASC Fam for breakfast, karaoke, and a whole lot of pink! 🎀

Here’s to a month of love, support, and standing together. 🫶

A young adult gaining confidence. A family feeling less overwhelmed. A parent realizing they don’t have to navigate everything alone. ❤️ These are the moments that make La-Shawn’s work with ASC’s Supported Training and Employment Program (STEP) and Family Strengthening Program so meaningful.

As Program Coordinator, La-Shawn helps young adults explore their potential, prepare for what comes next, and connects families in the disability community with resources that can make everyday life a little easier.

Both programs are made possible through funding from the Children's Services Council of Broward County —an investment that reaches far beyond ASC and helps children and families throughout our community.

La-Shawn’s favorite part? Seeing former STEP participants graduate, explore careers, and continue their education. Watching them take those next steps is a great reminder of what can happen when the right opportunities are there for individuals with all abilities.

And a fun fact about La-Shawn—she loves to write and hopes to release a book one day (be on the lookout for it😉)! 📚

For National Family Day, we couldn’t think of a better crew to spotlight!

Roz Gordon Perlmutter has been part of ASC for many years as a Board Member, advocate, supporter, and most importantly, as Elana’s mom. Along the way, her loved ones have become part of our family, too. 💙️

You’ll find Darren sharing his talents at Celebrity Chefs, Roz and Aimee cheering us on at events, and the granddaughters visiting campus to spend time with Elana. No matter the occasion, the Perlmutters are always showing up with so much love, laughter, and support.

They’re more than longtime supporters. They’re part of what makes ASC so special. We’re so grateful for all the ways they bring so much joy to our community.

We love having the Perlmutters in our lives. Happy National Family Day! 💚
